Instead of being a "reasonable" Catholic, you should be a staunch Catholic, following Church teaching and rejecting birth control.
Our Catholic brothers and sisters pointed out that birth control is the cause of unwanted pregnancy, and I say they're right. Birth control led to a lax moral attitude, giving way to unrestrained sexual activity, which means more chances of children born out of wedlock. Therefore, it would seem the Church's position is the correct one.

Pregnancies, including unwanted ones, are most common among the strongly religious anyway. You may have had a point if didn't use the word "moral", did not assume that this could be the only thing that could lead to increased birth rates, and if your assumptions weren't counterfactual.
I thought that pregnated teens went to nun convents to have their unwanted childs in the 50's....

Yeah but if you're on birth control you don't get pregant. That's the whole point.
Now telling kids that birth control and condoms are evil because the Bible says so and then expecting them to never get pregant is wishful thinking at best and downright stick your heads in sand at worst.

Condoms are 99.8% effective in preventing pregnancy and in protecting against sexually transmitted diseases. Feminine birth control (the pill, IUD, the patch, spermicidal foam, etc.) are 99.6% effective against unwanted pregnancies. Let's not kid ourselves here: the failure to use birth control leads to unwanted pregnancies.
There's a name for Catholics who use the rhythm method or the traditional "pull out" method. They're called "parents".

Right. Because, clearly, women are nothing more than broodmares and should give up on their dreams for themselves and for their children. How blasphemous, the idea a woman ought have the ability to provide (financially, emotionally and physically) for a new child when she has one. She should just keep going like a dog or a rabbit.

My uncle was either a miracle 5 month premature baby that was fully formed, or my Grandparents had a rushed marriage. This was in a rural area in 1912.

Birth control prevents pregnancy by its very definition. Improper use of it, or failure to use it at all, is what results in pregnancy.

Birth control lead to people deciding when it's most suitable to have children, giving way to relaxed sexual activity, which means more chances for couples to bond, even when they don't want children.
Therefore, it would seem the Church's position is the wrong one. Why else would Catholics often be viewed as sex-crazy and prone to shot-gun marriages.
(I can’t remember any school mates having children during my teenage years. Having children before the age of 25 is pretty unusual in Sweden.)
