Quote# 414

I heard on KLOVE just recently some statistics that support the Christian principle thinking...

And these are from memory so if someone knows how to get the real numbers and source it would be great...

94% of the Constitution is paraphrased from the Bible (alot from Deuteronomy)

36% of the above is actually word for word.

Don't quote statistics unless you can back them up with sources.

And when you say \"word for word,\" do you mean that the words \"we,\" \"the,\" and \"people\" are in the Bible? No way!

par•a•phrase (păr'ə-frāz')n.
1. A restatement of a text or passage in another form or other words, often to clarify meaning.
2. The restatement of texts in other words as a studying or teaching device.

If 94% is paraphrased, then exactly 0% of the above is 'word for word.'

Christians and their fantasy statistics.

I'd like to see where the Bible mentions a judiciary to be appointed by the chief executive.

Know FirstCVOr123 must be right. I'm sure KLOVE has a huge fact checking department and the reasearched that info before putting it on the air.

Remember, 75% of statistics are made up.
Sadly, I'm relatively sure this person has never read Deuteronomy and I am completely sure he/she has never read the constitution.

I'm thinking that most of that's crap. Especially if you heard it on a Christian radio network, which it sounds like what KLOVE is.

94% of the Constitution is paraphrased from the Bible (alot from Deuteronomy)

36% of the above is actually word for word.

213% of all of the above is actually bullshit.

Yeah, so...what part of Deuteronomy can I find the first amendment in? Is it before or after the part about the girl being killed if she's raped in the confines of a city without screaming audibly? Or how men can't be allowed to come into the presence of the Lord if their genitals are mutilated?

Y'know, since the OT was all about freedom of speech and religion and all that.

Nobody ever said the bible didn't have some good ideas in it. Taken as a whole, however, it's still a heap of shit.

Perhaps some small parts are missing - such as decimal points and/or zeros

.0094% of the Constitution is paraphrased from the Bible (alot from Deuteronomy)

.0036% of the above is actually word for word.

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", beeyatch!

I don't think Liberty or Happiness are mentioned at all...who has a Concordance?

1/1/2008 7:35:28 PM

@Caustic Gnostic - that would be the Declaration of Independence.

Where in the bible does it give instructions for establishment of an executive, judiciary, and legislatory braches of government, with instructions on electing officials to power as well as individual rights?

You are DAFT good sir.

I love how you state "real numbers".

And I've read the Constitution and we've gone over Deuteronomy in church (I'm Christian, but leaning more towards agnostic) and they sound nothing alike. KLOVE is also played in Nebraska and it's a bunch of right-wing fascist bull. If you replace Jesus with "baby" in those songs it becomes modern pop, though still crap, just less of it.

94% of all statistics are made up.

Where in the Constitution does it say keep Sunday holy or you will be killed? Or that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or that being gay is? Or if you have an unruly son, he should be killed? Or that Moses parted the Red Sea? Where in the Constitution does it say that God created the heavens and the earth? Light and dark?

On the contrary, where does it say in the Bible that no religious test should ever be administered as a condition of public office? Or that no one should be made to quarter military personnel in their homes? Or that the States retain all rights not enumerated in the Constitution?

"And these are from memory..."

First sign they're full of shit.

"...so if someone knows how to get the real numbers..."

Second sign they're full of shit and trolling for someone else to lie with other bullshit numbers.

Ten bucks says he knows this because his pastor said so.

A further ten says he's never read the Constitution.

And yet another further ten bucks says he's not read Deuteronomy...

6/24/2008 10:26:11 PM

This just proves it. These people have never actually read the constitution.

8/7/2008 2:55:05 PM

Dr. Shrinker

The bible talks about conducting diplomacy with Native Americans? The bible proposes a date for the ending of importing African slaves? The bible describes a process for amending itself?

That must be an awful big 6%.

KLOVE apparently makes shit up to an unbelievable degree. Read the constitution, stupid.

Apparently there's no checking anything out by these people.
