"The report comes one week after a family filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Columbus against Freshwater and the school district, saying Freshwater burned a cross on their child's arm that remained for three or four weeks."
...Just another story meant to make Christians look like fanatical weirdos.

Someone who burns ANYTHING onto a child is a fanatical weirdo, Christian or not.
Actually, 'fanatical weirdo' is not a strong enough term.
'Sick fucker' is more like it.
Wait, let me check the story again...
"BURNED A CROSS INTO THEIR CHILD'S ARM"
Yeah, fanatical is right at least.
"...Just another story meant to make Christians look like fanatical weirdos."
Yeah, well, stop acting like fanatical weirdos and the stories will go away.
I wonder how they'd react if an atheist teacher burned a non-religious symbol onto a kid's arm.
No, no, I'm kidding. I don't wonder at all. No wondering is required for that question.

They're doing an excellent job of it by themselves. I fully expect the "but he wasn't a real Christian... We're being slandered!!!" conspiracy theories to appear before the end of the week.
Alternatively, it's a legitimate news story about a fanatical wierdo who BURNED CHILDREN.
If you feel like YOUR beliefs are being persecuted over this, well, maybe your beliefs need to be re-examined.
@Canadiest
Of course if the teacher was burning Darwin fish onto those kids' arms, you can bet they'd be shrieking to the high heavens about it, too. About how the eeeeevil atheists are harming the kids, how they had no permission, yadda yadda yadda. But since it's a cross, it's just a story concocted to make them look bad.
Yeah, it's the article that makes him look like a wacko. Not the part about branding students.
Way to shoot the messenger.
It would probably help your cause if Christians stopped DOING things that make them look like fanatical, overzealous wiredos.
I know you didn't say overzealous, but come on, they BRANDED someone.

Well, if the shoe fits...

...burning right-wing Fundamental ist Christianity into children's minds (PROTIP: German kids were indoctrinated with right-wing thinking in Hitler's Germany in WWII).
Nope. Not seeing any difference there. Physical. Psychological. Child abuse is still child abuse, however you define it.
And you lot at Ruptured Retards are the reason why 'hoemskuling' should be illegal.
Confused?
