So maybe it [Harry Potter] isn't so bad... but is bad if you base your whole life on the fiction that these books create...

Say what you will, but I'll give her credit. At least she isn't thinking that merely cracking open a Harry Potter book will suck your soul out, and send it straight to the bowels of Hell. Seems borderline...lucid, actually.
Yes, basing your whole, entire life around a work of fiction in generally not a good thing. And the vast majority of Harry Potter fans don't base their entire life on Harry Potter. (There are probably a few nuts who do, but, well, you get a few nuts anywhere.)
But, hey, they're acknowledging Harry Potter isn't the work of Satan. That's some progress at least . . .
I don't think this is actually fundie on it's own, it's actually quite a reasonable statement.
Granted it's from a Christian website, but CF has sane non-fundie members as well as the fundies, right?
Star Trek isn't so bad. And many people that are Trekkers base their life on the philosophies, morals, positive outlook, and hope that the TV series, films, books, comics etc create.
And that can't be bad, eh?
PROTIP: Star Trek's creator, Gene Roddenberry, was an Atheist.
I quite agree. An experiment or two is in order. Make yourself a wand and try to cast some of the spells described in the Harry Potter books.
Anything happen? No? Well then, we can conclude that Harry Potter is not a good guide for performing magic.
Now lets look at the bible. In Genesis, Jacob increases the number of spotted goats born in a herd by showing the pregnant she-goats a painted stick. Find some pregnant she-goats and try it.
Did the number of spotted goats born to this herd increase significantly? No? I'm sure you can figure the rest out.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
