That is truly very disturbing, I read somewhere that Obama said the US is not a Christian nation. Events are rapidly spiraling out of control and good people everywhere know it ...
Yesterday I was grocery shopping and started talking to lady about food prices, out of the blue I looked at her and said "JESUS IS COMING SOON"
She looked at me and said ... "sooner than you know"
It seems there are people who know the time is near and the other 9/10s that seen oblivious for some reason. We must spread the word of Jesus Christ, it is our duty.
On a more somber note my father is 84 and suffering mini strokes and the onset of Alzheimer's, he cannot understand being born again and he thinks hes going to hell, I am going there this afternoon and try to minister to him.

That would be awesome if her BS gave him a fatal stroke.
Well, awesome in a sad, macabre way...
DON'T JUDGE ME!
Obama was right; the United States is not a christian nation. There may be more christians here than I would prefer, but it is not a christian nation. It is a free nation, where citizens are free to worship, or not worship, as they see fit.
Your poor father. On his deathbed and his own freaking child cannot let him be in peace.
Oh noez! America isn't a "Christian nation"! The Treaty of Tripoli and the First Amendment exist! Duck and cover, Obama CRAAAAAZUH!
So, if I understand his stream of consciousness correctly, this guy meets another Rapture clod after bursting out with end times paranoia in a grocery store, and then thinks that everyone who doesn't respond to his idiocy in a similar mannner to this woman is "oblivious"? All while planning to evangelize his dying, paranoid, confused, and forgetful father? And he fails to see himself as anything less than a man with an unfailing perspective of where our world is headed, what happens after we die, and how to properly deal with all of this. And anyone who doesn't agree with his views of existence's end being nigh are just failing to see the truth. Wonderfully arrogant.
Yup...defintely Rapture Ready standard issue.
I read somewhere that Obama said the US is not a Christian nation.
If he said that, it was probably unwise of him. Truth is the first casualty of election campaigns.

No, the rest of us require evidence.

Why? According to your religion, he is heading to hell and now that he has Alzheimer's, he cannot be expected to remember, even if you manage to convince him of your nonsense.
You'd be better off just going into your closet and praying about it. Come to think of it, so would the rest of us. Go and pray for a few weeks.
Please.
I read somewhere that Obama said the US is not a Christian nation.
So did John Adams. It shows that unlike religious cranks, they read the Constitution.
"Obama said the US is not a Christian nation."
IT'S NOT.
"out of the blue I looked at her and said "JESUS IS COMING SOON"
I bet you freaked her out.
"She looked at me and said ... "sooner than you know"
O_o
"We must spread the word of Jesus Christ, it is our duty."
It really isn't.
Demographically, the majority of the United States is Christian. However, that has absolutely nothing to do with our government, which is based on secular principles. If the government were truly founded on Christianity, the Ten Commandments would be law, and every citizen would be required to follow them. That would mean that every person who was not a Christian could legally be put to death.
Of course, I'm sure you'd love that, wouldn't you?

- Pathetic that a poor man of advanced years is being harried into mental torment by his lunatic family.
he thinks hes going to hell, I am going there this afternoon and try to minister to him.
Who else gets to do this, Dante and Jeebus? Prepping a spot in hell for dad, 'cause you both 'know' that's where the old geezer's going. tsk tsk tsk, what did he do to you to deserve this maltreatment?
"On a more somber note my father is 84 and suffering mini strokes and the onset of Alzheimer's, he cannot understand being born again and he thinks hes going to hell, I am going there this afternoon and try to minister to him."
As far as I'm concerned, having Alzheimer's is hell. Some "intelligent design" if a simple protein folding error can cause such grief to the individual and those around them. Hasn't the "intelligent designer" heard of error correction?
Wait till he's in critical condition, and whacked out on morphine. It's easier to convert people like that. My born again sibling, who had such dismal success with his conversion efforts, was able to get a terminally ill sister to 'convert' when she was so high on morphine she could have been convinced that she was a cat.
Sometimes its easier for me to laugh about these things than cry :(
"...Yesterday I was grocery shopping and started talking to lady about food prices, out of the blue I looked at her and said 'JESUS IS COMING SOON'

I was just a kid when Bill Clinton first came into office, so I wasn't following politics at the time. Out of curiosity, were there any fundies insisting that he was the anti-christ, hell-bent on destroying the US, while he was campaigning? I remember people saying this stuff about Bush too.

Aside from the fact that he would be correct, I think I read that somewhere as well. On this site.
Great - apparently, the crazy-density in your area is so great, you can assert your delusion to a random stranger in public and expect them to support it. The phrase "critical mass" springs ominously to mind.
I think the other person was more like. (Oh god get this nutcase away from me before she kills herself)
@sofia the antichrist
I wouldn't know but I knew some people who thought AL GORE was the Anti-Christ.
I think it's a common thing these days, all the democratic Presidental Candidates are the Anti-Christ, unless they don't get elected. Funny little scheme, tricking these fundis who fall for it over and over again.
I know it's kind of strange to not hear someone lie after all these years, but it's true. The good ol' US of A is not a Christian Nation, and never has been. @Hal4511's dad: relax, you're not going to Hell. There's no such place.
Obama would be right, too.
TREATY OF TRIPOLI, BITCH.
I read somewhere that Obama said the US is not a Christian nation.
He's right.
Yesterday I was grocery shopping and started talking to lady about food prices, out of the blue I looked at her and said "JESUS IS COMING SOON"
If I was her I would have made a call to the men in the white coats.

This is the speech in question here. Watch it, it's freakin' awesome.
Obama states that the US is not JUST a Christian nation, it's a multicultural nation. He warns against interpreting parts of the Bible too literally, and that religious people should focus on bettering society instead of trying to impose their view on others.
Unfortunately, the people that could learn the most from it, like our friends at RaptureReady, will only include it as more proof that Obama is the antichrist.

My dad died a little over a year ago. When I was in his hospital room, standing over his death bed, pushing my personal beliefs on him was the furthest thing from my mind. Why don't you make keeping him company and trying to ease his suffering the focus of your remaining time with your dad instead of scaring a confused old man with dire tales of eternal torture in the afterlife?
I approved this one for one and only one reason.
She is going upto a man with Alzheimers, a man whose mind is falling apart. And terrifying him with ideas such as how he is going to be left behind...
Its sickening.
So your verbally assaulting people in grocery stores and terrorizing an 84-year-old with threats of hell.
Wow, those Christian morals never cease to amaze me.
How sad that your dying fathers last months on Earth are so tortured by religious delusions, and even sadder that you continue to add to his misery. For shame, you horrible, evil person.
Confused?
