(regarding the new film "Get Smart")

boycott this filth. there is so much sexual innuendo that our young children do not need to see. the innuendo that he was looking up her skirt.

and dont even get me started on him kissing another guy at the end. that is disgusting and immoral.

I don't think looking up a skirt is innuendo, it's pretty blatantly obvious.

approximate

OK, you've convinced me. I'm going to see that movie.

"him kissing another guy at the end."

Goddamnit! Spoilers, people, do you know of them?!

6/25/2008 7:32:09 PM

aaa

Nobody mention Austin Powers.

OOPS.

the spoilers thing is my fault...sorry people.

It doesn't really have too much to do with the story, though, don't worry.

But yeah, it's still pretty fundie.

sofia the antichrist

This is pretty fundie, but nothing will ever compare to that "Happy Feet" rant.

Why do they always assume that if a film isn't appropriate for 'young children' it's worthless? If we could only make films children could watch, there wouldn't be a rating system in the first place.

Fundies. Making the world safe for children and people with brains like them.

the innuendo that he was looking up her skirt.

Looking up someone skirt is WAAAAAY past innuendo.

Okay, as much of a train wreck as I know it's going to be, I am now looking forward to next summer's G.I. Joe movie.

Because these fraidy cats are going to go absolutely batshit over Baroness's black catsuit.

Boycott? Yeah, that'll work.

In Russia, new film boycotts you.

the innuendo that he was looking up her skirt.
That's not innuendo. That's looking up a skirt. I'm sure he was punished for that behavior, showing kids it's not acceptable to look up skirts.

Innuendo would be something more like this:

Leslie Nielsen watches, from below, a hot chick who's wearing a skirt climbing up a ladder.

LESLIE NEILSEN: "Nice beaver."

Hot chick comes back down from the ladder, carrying a taxidermically-mounted beaver.

HOT CHICK: "Thanks, I had it stuffed myself."

Sounds like a good movie.

Don't like it? Don't see it.

I don't watch remakes for a few reasons. They're never as good as the original, they usually change key elements so that the story doesn't make sense any longer and they usually feel a need to add unnecessary things just for sensationalism. It's truly sad that no one can be bothered to sit down and write an orignal script any more.

apYrs

was it a "peck" or a "snog"

Nearly every Mediterranean European country has men kissing in greeting - not queer just civilised

The Roman and Anglican church has men exchanging the "kiss if peace"

It's only the uptight British and US that have problems with non-sexual kissing. Do these people kiss their fathers?!

Mister Spak

Stick it innuendo.

Then don't take young children to see a movie that is plainly not meant for them. Problem solved.

I assume you didn't watch american pie, your head would've exploded...

Allegory for Jesus

And this is why the film is rated PG-13! If you want to bring your "think of the children" arguments up against something, try to bring against a G-rated or PG-rated flick. You know...the kind that are geared towards the young children that you feel so adamantly need protecting. Seriously, get your head screwed on correctly before you start ranting about insubstantial matters, M'kay?

6/25/2008 9:35:27 PM

Why would someone take a young child to a movie rated PG-13? Are you an idiot? On the other hand 99.9% of remakes suck so I probably won't see it.

"and dont even get me started on him kissing another guy at the end. that is disgusting and immoral."

For what it's worth, it's not like Smart wanted to do it; in fact he did it because he knew it would startle the
bad guy
.

And the part with the skirt was mentioned in the preview, so by the time I actually saw the movie it wasn't as funny.

As for myself, part of why I went to go see it was for Masi Oka, of which I thought there was just the right amount for the small part he had. But it could be worse. I bet if pjmcguirk85 knew what his character on Heroes could do, we'd get enraged remarks about that show, like "ONLY GOD IS GREAT ENOUGH TO HAVE SUPERPOWERS !!ELEVENTY!!" and so forth.
