[regarding a fictional book about alien beings that overtake the human 'host' body, where the alien and the host fall in love with some dude and work together to find him -- basically a sci-fi romance novel]

Unbelieveable how blatant things are becoming! Reading the discription made me ill...

I'm praying for the protection of anyone who reads this "novel".

Yes, that sounds like a terrible novel.

This is probably a common reaction amongst Fundies after reading something OTHER than the bible.

So don't read it, problem solved.

Anyone who hasn't should check out the thread this came from. One person thinks the "invading alien species" are Obama voters. Classic.

Hey, at least the other posters on that thread seemed to thin kit sounded like an interesting book.

It does sound kind of dumb, so I will avoid it--simply because I don't hold with reading bad books and wasting my time on it. (A mistake I made with the Dresden Files...)

I should probably hide that Torchwood episode with all the alien fucking away from KitsapGirl before she sees it and has a freaking heart attack.

The fundie christian response is bad enough, but we're going to be in real trouble once the scientologists hear about this one.

Oh, if alien romance novels make you ill, you should read "Cold Wind". Gay space-lizards! :D
So then you can convulse violently and die, and we who can take this kind of subject matter can read our stories in peace!

I got so fed up with reading about the bad effects of smoking, drinking, sex, drugs and Rock n' Roll, I finally gave up reading.

If you think that's bad for fundie minds, I wonder what they could possibly make of Asimov's tri-gendered aliens in The Gods Themselves.

I'm guessing you probably wouldn't want to read Shadow Man by Melissa Scott then.

I think the novel that this poster is referring to is "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer. I haven't read it, but I've heard that it's not that good and that it has some anti-feminist themes, to boot. So, no, I don't think I'll be reading it any time soon, but not for the reasons that this moron's suggesting.

You people really seem to have trouble discerning reality from fiction. Everything you read is not real and everything in general is not related to Christianity and the Rapture.
