[regarding the media's paranoia about the particle accelerator in Sweden destroying the world]
Well, it could be used as a more "rational" explanation for the Rapture than alien abduction, for those left behind who don't believe in little green men, lol... I mean, if they're not really sure what will happen. And the people of this planet are quite gullible. And all they need is the AC promoting the idea, and they'll buy into it.

Let's not exaggerate here. All that would be needed would be for ABC, NBC, or CBS to promote the idea and the "sheeple" would line up in droves to be a part of it.

Actually no, it wouldn't be. Those of us who are intelligent enough to realize that your bible is full of crap are also intelligent enough to understand:
A) CERN is unlikely to cause any devastating event.
B) If a black hole large enough to "suck" people into it developed, it wouldn't just selectively take people from around the world, it was draw in those in the immediate area, if not the entire planet.
C) If millions of devote Christians suddenly vanish into thin air, it would be a sign that the bible wasn't full of shit afterall, and we'd all convert to Christianity immediately.
Rapture Ready just gets stupider and stupider every day.
Or, it could just be science. Now, we know fundies like you equate science with satan and atheists, but sometimes, things are nothing more than what they are.
If you're so scared of particle acceleration, you better get rid of your television and computer monitor; both work on the same principle.
I didn't know Sweden had anything like that though. I'm sure you're talking about the big CERN accelerator, but that is in Switzerland. Another fundie spouting off about something with absolutely no knowledge.
Breaking news - The entire world is being destroyed by a black hole.
Nobody is left behind.
Rapturists are sad to discover the end is never coming, and everybody is going to be compressed into a singularity.
And just how the fuck could the LHC cause people to disappear en masse? There is no physically possible way for that to happen. In fact, I don't think there's any possible way to just explain away mass disappearances. Hence, I do not believe in the Rapture. (Not that I have any reason to, as I am an atheist.)
(Oh and the LHC is in France and Switzerland, not Sweden)
From all the different kinds of stuff posted here on FSTDT these posts are the hardest for me to understand.
These people really think that enough people actually believe in the rapture (but not in God) and are arranging different conspiracies to cover up the “fact” that people will be raptured (like CERN, UFOs, alien abductions etc.), or have contingency plans for the rapture (like having at least one non-rapture-believing pilot in every plane).
If all these people would really think the rapture is real why wouldn’t they also believe in God? Why go through all this effort and cost?
I just don’t get it. I mean, normal conspiracy theories are irrational enough, but at least they usually have someone in them who would profit from the conspiracy. But these?
I really don’t understand this.
I don't expect this idea to catch on among the rapturites. Having the faithful disappear with those who are "left behind" attributing it to the LHC negates the dramatic image of people flying up into the sky. The rapture looses a lot of its appeal for these people if they can't look down on the people who disagreed or ridiculed them, or even just enjoyed life and sneer, "suck it losers!"
WHAT??? There is a particle accelerator in Sweden as well?
It must be very secret; I have never heard anything about it.
If you can actually believe all the stupidity of the Rapture, you are indeed quite gullible, yes.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
