Quote# 42031

"If same-sex marriage is allowed, can that be in combination with different-sex marriage, which then makes a threesome? If any entity allows same-sex marriage, that allowance redefines marriage, and by extension the entity must then allow any group to redefine marriage as they see fit. Polygamous groups will be next in line, followed by who-knows-what."

I've always thought that the idea of a three way legally recognized union is quite interesting actually. Get the fire pit ready.

I have no problem with such a thing. What's your problem, aside from someone possibly getting more than you?

Does anyone have information on the relative successes of group marriages?

At least this one jumps to polygamy, and not beastiality, which is a nice change for once...

Who cares?

The only reason polygamy is illegal now is for tax reasons.

Um, you mean like in the odd testament?

would you like some teflon with that slippery slope?

If all 3 parties are of legal age and can give informed consent, why the hell should I care?

Anyone care to remind me how many wives Solomon had?

It was seven hundred wives (not to mention three hundred concubines), wasn't it?

We don't consider that legal today. Id you want to freak out about how allowing gays and lesbians to get married would redefine marriage, please consider how much we've redefined marriage since the days when the Old Testament was written. Allowing two people with the same genitalia to get married doesn't change the modern definition of marriage as much as going back to something from the Old Testament would.

Both same-sex and opposite-sex marriage is a union of two people who want to share their lives with each other.
There is no redefinition, as the basic requirements are still there; two consenting adults.

Btw, what does it matter to you? If you don't like same-sex marriages, don't have one.

Okay, we've had gay marriage, or at least something like it, since I was in high school. Pedophiles still get arrested and tossed to the sharks in stir. Threesomes are still the Holy Grail for most guys, and nobody North of Missouri's married a mule yet. So....yeah. Wow, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
