If you believe in the theory of evolution why do people have different languages? you will not say again its in the process of learning..because as far as I know if you indeed believe in chipmunks as an origin of your life why do monkey parents will teach his kin different languages if he can teach only one language.. so I strongly believe what it say in Genesis 11.. Please Read The Tower of Babel..Hope this will be a point to those who want to have a proof of God.

Here's a fun game, get yourself around 19 other people and all of you line up next to eachother. Now take a simple phrase, something you all know, and whisper it to the person next to you. I promise it won't be the same as when you started.

Languages evolve the same way. It's why people in the north United States don't use the exact same language as people in the southern United States. They're both english, but there are words or phrases that could each carry different meanings in different locations. There are also some words which are unique to their region.

Language changes with each generation. It has nothing to do with your mythic tower and language is not proof of your god either.

The development of language is one of the finest parallels to biological evolution there is. It happens so fast that it can even be clearly seen in the course of a lifetime. I am sure we are all aware of the evolution of the word gay. "Don we now our gay apparel." had no double meaning when I was growing up. Bad was bad not good. The list could go on for hours. The changes in word meaning as well as in grammatical construction have been everywhere. This is so much like what fundies like to call microevolution in biology. These small changes did not produce a new "species" of language in my 64 years. However at that rate of change and given a geographical isolation as well as an isolation in commuication, the English of America and the English of, say, Australia will become a separate languages with minimal mutual understanding.

Big Deal, in your ignorance you brought up one of the finest analogous proofs of the nature of speciation there is. Thank you for being a dumbass.

Please Read The Tower of Babel.

I'm way ahead of you, douchebag. The Tower of Babel incident is just one more piece of evidence which proves that Jehovah is an evil son of a b****. Humanity was united in one goal. Everyone was working to one purpose. Then along comes Jehovah and He "confuses" the language being spoken. After that we've had nothing but division, strife, and warfare. So Jehovah is responsible for the deaths and misery that arose from the fragmenting of Humanity into various cliques and nationalities.

Is that really the kind of credit you want to heap at Jehovah's feet?

By the by: evolution plays absolutely no part in the formation of language. What is it with you fundies wanting to lumber evolution with your desire for answers to any question having to do with science? Why not ask why, if people believe in mathematics, people have different skin colors?

Um, isolation bring change. Look at how The King’s English has changed in Vermont and Alabama. Another thousand years without much interaction, they’d have been completely different languages.
