Even if in spirit it might hold some merit, the fact that the conclusions are drawn from false premises, e.g. lust being sinful etc., still makes it fundie and wrong.
Besides it posits a false dichotomy; where does it say you can't fall in love with the person and the body.
And yes it is possible to relieve oneself without any sexual imagery.

One would hope that thought the course of ones spiritual journey,if one so choses to continue this practice that it will become fruitful and deepen ones spiritually.
I hate to break this to you but when I'm jerking it I couldn't care less about my spirituality. The only thing I'm looking to deepen is my "moon unit" in my wife.

You're not the first fundie I've run across with this kind of harshly repressed, Puritanesque approach to sexuality. Just ask any Bob Jones University (BJU---hahahahahahahaha) alumnus and they'll tell you all about it. At Bob Jones--which I visited twice prior to graduation to get information about attending--holding hands is tantamount to raw bareback fornication in public.

That and there are studies that say the more you masturbate the more you think about sex, so reliving yourself several times before a date may send you into an endorphin high and that "someone" will fit you no matter what because your brain chemicals are overriding everything else. (Knew a guy in high school just like that - CREEPY!)

Apart from the rather bizarre angle and my pet spelling hate, I don't really disagree with finding someone to love for who they are. Plus, if this guy really is a fundie, he/she appears to be rather progressive.
So...don't masturbate lustfully, but masturbate like crazy when falling in love?
