(About that "I Kissed a Girl" song)
I asked my 12 year old sister in law about this song after reading this thread and if she had heard it. She said yeah and that it was the number 1 song right now. She then proceeded to tell me that it was just about being gay and it was no big deal, that the singer is "just gay and likes girls instead." I nearly had a wreck (we were driving). I told her no, that being gay is wrong, and that just because it is so widely accepted it does not make it OK. She looked at me like I was weird and then said, oh, ok..
Wow.

But it's not about being gay. It's about a straight girl who kisses another girl for the first time. Bi at most.
And yeah, it is the #1 download on iTunes right now.
Really, it's #1? Why have I been hearing about that song so much now, especially on this site? I heard it for the first time several years ago. Kinda weird it would suddenly become popular now. lol
Good for the 12 year old, by the way!
That song's gay, lul.
"She looked at me like I was weird"
YOU ARE.
"I nearly had a wreck ... She ... then said, oh, ok.."
Argument ad I'll-turn-this-car-into-that-brick-wall!!
12 year old sister in law? How old is your husband?
"She looked at me like I was weird and then said, oh, ok.."
Probably thought to herself "better shut up, or mad old Jen wont shut up"
She's right, it's a terrible, terrible song.
I prefer Jill Sobule's "I Kissed a Girl" from 1995.
How odd...you're dumber than a seventh grader, well done
And I'm loving that on the first post of the thread, Lisa, one of the admins, deleted the link(it says *Link deleted, family friendly please* in red writing...even more worrysome is that the OP didn't objet and simply said "sorry, I guess they can loo it up for themselves)
Cen***ship! Yeah!
EDIT: Even more fun...one guy posted that his girlfriend loves this song(when she plays it he runs to another room and blasts Kutless)...one of his fellow user advises him NOT TO MARRY THIS GIRL and to find another girlfriend
She looked at me like I was weird and then said, oh,
ok ...
Exactly what I would have said.
@Little Miss
Yeah, it's more about being a male barroom fantasy than anything else. She gets drunk, gets brave, "tries" the random stranger girl on, kisses her and hopes that her boyfriend doesn't get angry. "You're my experimental game/Just human nature"
If you actually read the lyrics to it, and, well, her other charming crap like "Ur so Gay" or "One of the Boys," you kinda wanna smack her. Hard.
This is a shame as I really like her voice.
First, it's by a xtin band. Second, I hate it too, but not for the same reasons fundies do. It reminds me of my ex-wife.
I nearly had a wreck (we were driving)...She looked at me like I was weird and then said, oh, ok..
She brought up the whiff of homosexuality, you freaked out, nearly crashed the car, and promptly starting raving like a madwoman. How was she supposed to look at you?
I suspect Poe/troll, for the simple reason of the name: Jen867... That would likely refer to the one-hit-wonder 80s song 867-5309, describing a Jenny known to be rather... "available".. for just a phone call. Throwing stones and all that..
On a side note, the song refered to (Katy Perry's Kissed a Girl) is a lot of fun to play live at a club.
I think it would be even funnier if it was a male singer singing the song.
Also, something tells me that for your sister-in-law to be 12 you have to have married a man who can't be older than about 20. I assume she's female because of her username.
In other words, they marry early, which is typical of fundies.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
