The fact that the galaxies are moving away from every other galaxy, as if space itself is increasing, defies the BB theory. Nothing in science can explain it. Any theory about it is mere speculation.

How would Galaxies moving away from each other increase space anyway.
For example, say the three brain cells left in NF's head started to move away from each other would you also need to conclude his head was getting larger?
Actually, I think NephilimFree is right.
The expansion of galaxies seems to support my new "Intelligent Pushing" theory far more than your evil-lutionistic/atheistic/islamic "Big Bang".
And, as we all know, the Big Bang is what led Darwin to team up with Hitler to vote for Roe V. Wade.
Uh... no. The fact that galaxies are moving away from each other is evidence for the Big Bang theory, which posits continual expansion of the universe. Otherwise, how did the galaxies start moving in the first place?
Oh, that's right, God did it.
Is this some kind of weird, inverse circular logic? The very thing that a theory describes is what proves it wrong? Like... the sky is blue, so therefore it is impossible for the sky to be blue?
Brain... shutting down... fundie... logic... overload...
Got it wrong again.
Colliding galaxies are pairs (or more) of galaxies caught by the tug of their own mutual gravitation attraction. Some colliding galaxies eventually merge to form a new whole, while other colliding galaxies eventually part. In this image, the larger galaxy (on the left) is called NGC 2207, and the smaller galaxy (on the right) is called IC 2163. Strong tidal gravitational forces from galaxy NGC 2207 have stretched and distorted galaxy IC 2163, throwing off streams of gas and dust, stretching for hundreds of thousands of light years, which are just visible on the right side of the image. These two galaxies will continue to pull and tug at one another for several billion years, before they eventually merge together to form a new galaxy.

Or did these Galaxies just piss god of somehow.
@ JESUS PLEASE COME SOON!

Sure - I think it was Carico who said rat DNA is more like human DNA than human DNA is, itself. Fundy Logic
Defies?
Yeah, in my experience, explosions move things sideways, not out from the center.. Crazy astronomers!
Untrue. Don't you remember?
"The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz.
As fast as it can go,
The speed of light you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is..."
@Goosey:
Space / the universe / reality actually IS expanding.
If you think about it, this must be the case. If light from distant stars is only just reaching us now, but at some point in the past all matter was essentially at a single point (i.e. big bang) then the universe must be expanding faster than the speed light travels.
Wikipedia says this:
The metric expansion of space is the averaged increase of metric (i.e. measured) distance between objects in the universe with time. It is an intrinsic expansionthat is, it is defined by the relative separation of parts of the universe and not by motion "outward" into preexisting space.

PS I don't really understand all this stuff, so I could well be wrong. :)
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I have just typed this, which defies the theory that I have just typed this.
HE HAS CREATED A MOEBIUS STRAWMAN!
Thats pretty much it GodsAreJustPretend
Space keeps getting bigger, everything else stays the same. The general upshot of this is that distant light waves end up getting stretched, so they look redder. We can tell that it's being stretched because we can look for distinctive markers like the 21cm hydrogen line.
It's either that, or gremlins are screwing with telescopes.
Um... actually that's the very fact which led TO the BB Theory. You lose a point for that one, NephilimFree.
(and if it were up to me, you'd lose a point for that name, too.)
Because we are not sure of the exact mechanism how the universe expands, therefore, the Big Bang theory is wrong, therefore, God exists. It's so very simple.
"The fact that the galaxies are moving away from every other galaxy, as if space itself is increasing, defies the BB theory. Nothing in science can explain it. Any theory about it is mere speculation."
Riiiiiiiight. And objects falling to the ground prove that gravity doesn't exist.
Is it supposed to be Opposite Day or something?

Sadly, Nephy is not a troll. And this is a perfect example of "Nephy's Law". What is Nephy's Law, you ask?
Nephy's law is defined as:
When a statement is so stupid that no one is stupid enough to believe that there are people stupid enough to believe it.
uhoh another gem by nephy.
still using those giant headphones Neph ?
how does any of that defy the ACTUAL bigbang theory ?
see Nephilimfree on his utube channel. Its great stuff.
The hypothesis that the Universe started with a Big Bang, a big expansion of a singularity, is somehow defied by the fact that the Universe continues to expand? Huh?
If it's mere speculation, then it's not a theory, stupid. A scientific theory has been proven to be correct.
NephilimFree, the youtuber who only has 5 fingers on each hand proving his human purity from the evil angel/demon/human hybrids.
Science has a few ideas in why things seem to be accelerating away rather than slowing down, as gravity would suggest.
There is the Horizon problem, that says we cant see past a certain point , so we dont know if there is anything there. Science falls back on mathematical models.
"Any theory about it is mere speculation."
Speculation implies no evidence.
There IS evidence.
More evidence.
And no, you still don't understand the scientific definition of "theory".
I know I am late to the party, but still:
@ andrew
For example, say the three brain cells left in NF's head started to move away from each other would you also need to conclude his head was getting larger?
That’s a trick question! NF doesn’t have three brain cells.
How can you get an expansion of the universe to defy the Big Bang, which was the start of a great expansion? Everything about that is explained, silly. No theory is mere speculation, theories all have evidence in their favor and have been peer-reviewed; that's the definition of "theory".
Confused?
