[We don't see bizarre interruptions of known laws of physics so we could probably assume that they have always been consistent within the life of our universe.]

That's reasonable enough if one does not take into account the scientific fact that there was a violent change in the earth's environment when new atmospheric conditions caused the first torrential downpour of rain in earth history which is embedded in human consciousness by the sign of the rainbow. Along with this torrential rain were volcanic eruptions and tectonic upheavals in the very foundations of the earth of such magnitude as to blacken the sky with their molten ash forever altering the rate of cosmic ray penetration and ushering in the one and only Ice Age which the world had ever witnessed.

Dispense with this modern scientific analysis of the conditions which must have once prevailed on earth in order to create such magnificent testimonies to it as are evident for all to see in the topography of our American Grand Canyon and the door is opened to atheistic acounts of universal evolution with all of the meaninglessness which it entails.
