I think he was referring to the currently accepted hypothesis about how the moon was formed. (Earth and some stray planet glancing which caused material to be ejected, which later came together to form our moon)
Anyway I'm an environmentalist hippie and proud of it, frankly I see nothing wrong.

WTF is with planet collision? That's not how Earth formed. It is not even similar enough to be a strawman.
As for nothing being true without god...I think that you're going to have to settle for "reasonably certain" instead of true, given that we don't if god even exists, let alone that he defines reality.
