Heaven has some innovative technology, having inspired the creation of swords, the discovery of fire, but never the creation and discovery of fire swords. We must catch up to Heaven! Quick, somebody, learn how to magic items!
That actually makes sense. An omnipotent, omniscient God would be able to arm His angels with any weapons he wanted -- past, present, future, or outright fantasy.
Why He didn't just put Star Trek shields over the entrance to Eden is anybody's guess.

I fail to see the connection.
I heard that Glamdring was a flaming sword.
"Oh dear.... you're not going to hit that smelly goblin with me, are you? Ohmagod! That would be SO gauche! And I just got polished, too..."
He put the "glam" in "Glamdring."
flaming swords
This is either very homo-erotic, or just as bad an idea as 'sword-chucks'(a nunchuck-sword hybrid, for the uninitiated).
Seriously, if god is so smart, why not put a angel with a flaming AK-47 at the entrance?
Um ... is it too crazy to think, like, it's SYMBOLIC? Swords symbolize guardianship and authority, fire symbolizes active/dangerous power?
According to the book of Enoch, angels taught humans to make weaponry (as well as a whole bunch of things).
Can we prove that they did? Answer: No.
For those that want to know
"sword" is translated from
H2719
???
chereb
kheh'-reb
From H2717; drought; also a cutting instrument (from its destructive effect), as a knife, sword, or other sharp implement: - axe, dagger, knife, mattock, sword, tool.
But point that out to a fundy and be called a heretic...
So wait. A peaceful religion has a deity that invented Shiny Burning Weapons in its place of eternal rest and peace, to keep people from ever returning to a utopia?
You fundies really have gone completely bugfuck insane, haven't you.
Well, obviously, Adam got the idea of swords when he saw the angel. He was the person to start calling them "swords" -- it's also where he got the idea of fire. It took Adam a while to actually get around to making swords and fire though, but that's not really a problem. After all, Adam lived to be 930 years old. That's about a thousand years time for him to actually getting around to inventing the sword. Even if he himself didn't make the first man-made sword, he probably created the first prototypes. His offspring would have seen that and then gone on to make the first man-made swords. And thus, the first man-made swords could easily have come into existence thousands of years after the Fall and flaming swords could easily have existed in Heaven long before that. Duh.
Edit: @Katsuro --
No, you are clearly misguided. Kirk was simply the captain of the USS Enterprise. I can see where you would make this mistake, because Kirk was clearly quite awesome, but if you think about it a little, your conclusion just doesn't quite add up. After all, what would God need with a spaceship?
I see where we're going with this... cuz you know Even jesus and moses used guns to defeat the Romans, cuz god made em first.
I'm sorry to add, but what a panzy this god of yours is creating flowers and flaming swords first when he could freely make and do whatever he wanted. Why "if I were in charge I would have made lasers... day one- 8 o'clock."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
