[In reference to an article about a soldier who is sueing the DoD for religious discimination because he is an atheist.]
I don’t think that anything in the above story is religious discrimination . However if he were close to me while in the war in Iraq I would want him to get away from me as far as possible. I would not eat at the same table or be in the same Humvee.
Who does he think has keep him alive in the war. I can’t blame any of the other soldiers at all for their actions because mine would have been the same.

Who does he think has keep him alive in the war
Himself and his fellow soldiers.

No, you would follow your orders or you would no longer be in the military.

Replace "atheist" with "black" and say those things. Tell me it's not discrimination then. So, if that would be discrimination, why isn't it when someone is an atheist?

Training. Luck. Happenstance. Tactics. Hi-Tech gear. Certainly not Gawd.
"I can’t blame any of the other soldiers at all for their actions because mine would have been the same."
You're pathetic.
Any soldier who really thought their god was keeping them alive wouldn't be wearing body armour or riding around in a Humvee.
People like to say "there are no atheists in foxholes", yet I've never seen a soldier whose belief in God was strong enough for him to leave his helmet and flak-jacket behind when on foot-patrol.
Everyone in a foxhole is an atheist, if they believed their god was protecting them then they wouldn't be in there, and if they believed god decided when they died then a foxhole wouldn't make any difference.
I don't say this solely based on my Klingon genetics, but anyone that disrespects soldiers that are serving overseas need to be hung by the toenails and beaten to death with large, weighty summer sausages.
You've never served in a hot zone, have you?
What does it matter what another's religious beliefs are when the bullets are flying? You cover his back and he covers yours . End of discussion.
Either that or you both die.
Collins, you are an REMF!
"Who does he think has keep him alive in the war."
The engineers who use atheistic evolutionary science to invent your gun, ammunition, radio, armor and medical equipment. If it was me I would want you as far away from me as possible because I don't want a retarded death cult fundie trying to bring on armegeddon in a war zone. When you pass out your Jesus coins I want to be a safe distance away, but still close enough to watch you get your ass kicked.
Fundie cognitive dissonance. "Must.. support.. army.. Must hate atheists... But if soldier is atheist.. what do.. what doo.."
"However if he were close to me while in the war in Iraq"
Yeah yeah, tell us all about what you'd do if you had the fucking balls to enlist and go to Iraq, and they even WANTED an obvious incompetent asswipe like you in the army.
"be in the same Humvee"
The reason you say Humvee like it's some kind of impressive vocabulary word, is that it's the only one you know, because your entire perspective of the war is formed by watching American TV from your living room, you snotty nosed malodorous pervert, you.
No, that's not discrimination, you just don't want him near you, which, resembles, discrimination, a lot.
fucker

You'd be really popular with the other soldiers who are all working in close quarters as a team in order to keep themselves and their squadmates alive. Nothing quite captures the essence of esprit de corps like refusing to associate with someone who doesn't share your beliefs. Hey, wouldn't it be funny if the guys in your unit refused to be near you because you're an a**hole?
Who does he think has keep him alive in the war.
If I were forced to guess I'd say it would be:
1. Himself
2. The rest of his unit
and
3. Everyone else responsible for giving his unit support
On behalf of the entire U.S. military complex I'd like to say a few words.

Well, it sure as shit isn't the President who sent him there without proper funding. And since Bush declared himself chosen by God to be the President, well then, doesn't that mean God left our soldiers out to dry?
QED
religious discrimination
Q: Who does he think has keep him alive in the war?
A: It was military training and proper equipment. Go out in the battlefield with nothing but jEsus protecting you, and see how long you last.
"Who does he think has keep him alive in the war."
Well, let's see. The possibilities include:
*) The Drill Instructors who trained him in how to survive under fire;
*) The engineers who designed his body armor and armored vehicle;
*) The engineers who designed his weapon systems (which provide a deterrent against an enemy attacking him in the first place);
*) The manufacturers who actually built his body armor, armored vehicle, and weapons;
*) The supply chain personnel who got the armor, vehicle, weapons, food, fuel, etc. into his posession;
*) The other members of his unit who're watching his back while he watches theirs;
*) The forward scouts who're scouring the terrain ahead to root out trouble;
*) And, of course, Jesus, who sits atop his celestial throne deciding who wins this Sunday's NFL football games.
Soldiers keep each other alive in war. If you can't do that, no matter what, then stay home and bash those who are there; something like you, Lee.
"Who does he think has keep him alive in the war."
Tony Stark.. I don't care how many Gods you have, guns and skills are what run an army.
And stomachs, according to Napoleon.
I'm sure everyone's favourite companion in a warzone would be some self-righteous prick who believes he has a ticket to the afterlife no matter what happens. Oh yeah, if you could think the best course of action in difficult situations would be to shut your eyes and put your hands together, that would be a major bonus.
Who does he think has keep[sic] him alive in the war.[sic]
Those would be his fellow soldiers, watching his back - apart from you, it seems, you fucking liability.
If you truly believe god will win your battles for you, let's see you walk out onto a battlefield with no weapon, no armour, no fire support, no food, no medical equipment and no coherent plan.
He's probably done a good job of keeping HIMSELF alive in the war.
My Catholic stepdad (in the Army) thanks God for being safe at the end of the day, but he acknowledges, "Hey, I have a responsibility for keeping not only myself, but my fellow soldiers, safe and healthy! I should do that!" And so he DOES.
'However if he were close to me while in the war in Iraq I would want him to get away from me as far as possible. I would not eat at the same table or be in the same Humvee.'
Discrimination - that's what fundies are all about.
