She was beaten to death while she saved her boyfriend from being torn apart by a pack of teenage thugs.

She wasn't trying to draw attention to her body. Even if she was, does that justify it? I don't care if she was wrapped up like an Eskimo or stark naked. No one deserves to be killed for dressing differently.
Ms Lancaster and her boyfriend were Goths. It is highly unlikely that her clothes 'drew attention to her body', since Goths dress pretty modestly, if strangely, as a rule. So all this is nonsense.
Having said that, I agree that even if she'd been in her underwear she'd have deserved nothing less than to be left alone to get on with her life. Tragically, the couple ran into a gang of murderous subhumans, whose motives for attacking them so brutally are unknown which makes it especially sinister.

Do you think maybe the drunk teenager shouldn't have been drinking? Considering, the bible says its a sin to get drunk and it is illegal by the secular law as well. There is no law about how a person is to dress.

you guys appear to be reading a lot into this that isn't there. He doesn't say she had it coming, in fact he specifically says she didn't, just that he thinks the way she was dressed was overkill. there are other ways to draw attention to yourself than by wearing revealing clothes. I think bright orange and black dreadlocks and multiple piercings would fall into that category.
So, Gloria, did you actually read the story? You think that if she had not worn alternative clothing the gang of hateful yobs that beat up her boyfriend would have spared her? I think not. They went out looking for a fight and they made one with whosoever was unfortunate enough to be there at that time. What the victims were wearing makes no difference. It's a senseless murder and saying "Well she shouldn't have done X because she should have known Y" is callous beyond belief.
Blaming the victim, I see? I don't think that wearing goth clothing is an invitation to beat the crap out of someone, let alone kill them. Obviously, you beg to differ. Apparently, you can provoke people by your clothing and it is the clothing wearer's fault. I would argue that she could have been wearing a T-shirt that said "beat me to death with a shovel" with a gold medallion around her neck depicting the guy's mother orally servicing her employer, and still a physical attack could not be justified in the least.
although it was horrible that she was killed for that reason, its her own fault and what the boyfriend did was basically acceptable.

yes I did read the story. I think you missed the point of my post. I didn't say any of the stuff you're ranting about; my point was that I don't think singhispraises did either. I got the impression that the "the girl should have toned her clothes down a bit" and "I do think she was silly for trying to draw attention to her body in such a way" were not meant as justification for the attack nor an accusation that it was her fault, but merely an expression of his opinion about that style of dress. I'm really not sure how you get "of course it's the girls fault." and "The same old "she had it coming" bullshit" out of "There is no way she deserved any of that, nor her boyfriend"

Because when a person uses the word 'but' in that manner pretty much retracts the first part of the statement. For example, when someone says something like: "It's not the young girl's fault she was raped at that party BUT she really should have known better than dress like such a tramp."
Clearly the author of that statement indeed DOES think that it is partially the victim's fault but knows that their viewpoint will not be well received so they padded it a bit to keep from being perceived as an insensitive asshole.

And actually singhisahate (I mean praise ...) Goths usually dress far more conservatively when it comes to being revealing. Besides - she was attacked for defending her boyfriend whom was attacked for dressing differently.
Are you saying that he was attacked because these kids were latent homosexuals, and his exposure of one square inch of skin provoked their sexual desires?
That would make them perfect candidates for catholic preisthood!
