BTW: There are some people out there that want to give Apes human rights since they are our "close cousins". Would that allow beastiality?
Atheistic beliefs at work. Just because you're atracted to anything doesn't mean it's natural. And apparently "Natural" has taken on a new meaning lately.
And that is also one example how Atheism affects this country LIKE EVERY OTHER BELIEF held by its citizens. You're beliefs are not immune to criticism.

1: Informed consent.
2: Atheism is not a belief.
3: "Natural" does not mean "acceptable" or "good". Rape, infanticide, and the Candiru are natural.
4: Atheism is NOT A BELIEF. Dumbass.
What does giving apes (assume you're referring to non-human apes since humans are technically apes) human rights have to do with atheism?
I'll support giving apes human rights if they also have human responsibilities (that means if an ape kills a human or another ape they go to prison for murder), and yes if we're going to treat them like humans it makes sense to allow them to have sex and even get married. Some know sign language and would be able to communicate that intent so it could be consentual.
But that's only if we give them human rights. I don't think it's a good idea but that's what we'd have to do to be consistent.

Yes. Yes it would. I, for one, can't wait to get me some hot monkey lovin'.
Look moron, just because you extend basic human rights to a close cousin of humans doesn't mean you can marry one you imbecile.
By the way, what is it with you people and your bizarre fixation with bestiality?

You sound like someone who tells themselves "just because you're attracted to something doesn't mean it's natural" quite a lot. Wouldn't be hiding something now, would ya?
"And that is also one example how Atheism affects this country LIKE EVERY OTHER BELIEF held by its citizens. You're beliefs are not immune to criticism."
Atheism is not a belief but a lack thereof.
Hmm. You ask a spurious question, and without waiting for an answer, accuse another group of people for the premise your question implies.
And that is only one example of how institutionalized stupidity affects this country....
Natural: occurring in nature.
Since apes have the intelligence of a human child, they are unable to consent to sex. So... no, we wouldn't allow people to have sex with them.
What is it with fundies and bestiality? (And feces)
In a nice coincidence, I actually spent a lot of my time at work today reading up on this concept.
When we talk of giving great apes "rights," we do not mean that they will be able to vote, sit on juries, testify in court, obtain marriage licenses, use the same water fountains as humans, or any other such nonsense.
What the movement wants to do is take gorillas, chimps, and orangutans out of laboratories, circuses, and training for film/television roles. More specifically, it seeks to prevent them for being tortured in the name of science or entertainment.
Not surprising, Jane Goodall and Richard Dawkins are both avid proponents of this idea. While I found the notion weird at first, I realize now that it actually sounds like a great idea.
"Just because you're atracted to anything doesn't mean it's natural."
Natural has no relevance to this discussion whatsoever.
Besides, animals can't give consent, so bestiality would still be rape.
They're just trying to keep them from being shot or whatever.
I wonder if they'll have to pay taxes?
"There are some people out there that want to give Apes human rights since they are our "close cousins". Would that allow beastiality?"
You know, the ONLY time I ever hear the word 'bestiality' is from a fundie.
"Just because you're atracted to anything doesn't mean it's natural."
This made me laugh. What does it mean, oh wise one, is a magic spell at work?
"And apparently "Natural" has taken on a new meaning lately."
Why yes, fundies use it to mean just about anything they want.
"And that is also one example how Atheism affects this country LIKE EVERY OTHER BELIEF held by its citizens."
That makes so much sense, especially in context. You are wise, o wise one.
"You're beliefs are not immune to criticism."
Yes, they've evolved and now they're immune.
BTW: There are some people out there that want to give Apes human rights since they are our "close cousins". Would that allow beastiality?
Wouldn't you like to know.
Seriously though, he hears that apes will be given some rights and the first thing he thinks of is human/ape sex?
He's the one who brought up bestiality in the first place, then he tries to act like atheists are the ones who are attracted to chimps. This looks like a bad case of projection.
Actually, it would make bestiality less legitimate, as supposedly sex with an ape would then be considered under standard rape legislation. ("Ape rape"? I'm sure there's a pun in there somewhere...) You know, there is such a thing as "consent", and I doubt you will get that from an ape.
Mind you I'd just love to see you try forcing sex on a 500 lb gorilla who could snap your spine with one hand. Go on...
"Just because you're atracted to anything doesn't mean it's natural"
Surely it does mean that? 'Coz I dunno about everyone else, but I don't choose to whom or to what I am attracted.
"You're beliefs are not immune to criticism."
By all means, criticize away. If your criticisms are valid, I will listen. If your criticisms are ignorant or inarticulate, I will ignore them. I only ask that you show me the same courtesy.
So, are we in agreed then?
BTW: There are some people out there that want to give Apes human rights since they are our "close cousins". Would that allow beastiality?
No, there isn't. You are a liar! And what is it with you fundied and sex with animal all the damned time?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
