[This just hit too high on my irony meter not to submit it]
You have a lot of faith in the "electorate". When I ask people why they are voting for Obama - they always respond with emotion! Obama makes them feel good, Obama is a great speaker (with a teleprompter), Obama is going to make a change, etc, etc. These people dont care what will be said in the debates - Obama is their "messiah". They fanatically follow him - and he is an empty suite.
I fear that the majority of the voters are taken in by his salesmanship and do not understand his lack of substance.

Yeah, mindless militaristic drumbeats, constant flag-waving, hysterical screaming about practically meaningless issues all those standard Republican tactics (indeed, the whole substance of right-wing ideology) have no emotional content or purpose.
Here's the way I see it (bear in mind this is purely a personal opinion): We've had old white guy after old white guy in the Oval Office and right now we're in an economic and energy policy mess. Maybe bringing in someone new and fresh, like a young black man, will shake things up and get us moving again.
You Christians sure are freaked out about the possibility of a black man being President. Could it be you're worred about Obama remembering that it was Christianity that supported slavery and labelled black people as "soulless" and "subHuman"?
You have a lot of faith in the "electorate". When I ask people why they are voting for Reagan - they always respond with emotion! Reagan makes them feel good, Reagan is a great speaker (with a teleprompter), Reagan is going to make a change, etc, etc. These people dont care what will be said in the debates - Reagan is their "messiah". They fanatically follow him - and he is an empty suite.

Fixed.
Hmm. Seems more like the Bush voters of 4 and 8 years ago. Never mind that he's a lying moron, he seems like a nice guy, the kinda guy I could watch the game with or have a beer with.
P.S. Ignoforan, Not matter how much I might like a politician and/or his/her positions, I do not believe any of them to be my "messiah."
Considering that lately Obama's been backing many Bush administration policies, the only conclusion I can come to is that you're all feared of Teh Blak Manz.
Tell me that's not an emotional rather than logical position.
"Obama is their "messiah". They fanatically follow him - and he is an empty suite."
I see the memo has gone out to all fundies across the land. Just today on the local Christian station I occasionally listen to (for laughs, of course) the moron talk show host was ranting about how people "worship" Obama and how he now has "followers" rather than supporters. I was naively thinking he was being his usual jackass self and nobody in their right mind would think such a thing other than him. Guess I was wrong...
"I fear that the majority of the voters are taken in by his salesmanship and do not understand his lack of substance."
Reminds me of someone else who was elected rather recently--twice .
I agree. To believe someone is the "messiah" just because of empty promises and emotions is foolish.
And if Barack Obama leaves office after a only a few years,
disappears,
vows to return to fulfill his promises,
and then remains missing for longer than 2000 years,
and if his popularity grows so much in this time that 1/6 of the world's population openly support him despite his extensive absence,
then Christians will be able to mock Obama and his supporters.
@ RBM11
See if there was a God, those Secret Service men would have been on coffee when that happened. What an embarrassing way for a President to go.
Then again, we would of been stuck with Cheney for four years.
I admit I am somewhat concerned about Obama's lack of experience, but really, you're only complaining about his "salesmanship" because he's better at it than McCain. Suck it up, Iggy.
Confused?
