When I was growing up, I dreamed of being part of the crew on an exploratory starship. Then again, I don't think I was the typical little girl. My heroes were Spock and Sherlock Holmes (until I discovered Einstein and Marie Curie), I loathe pink, I read my brother's X-men and Avengers comics instead of the Jackie my mother insisted on buying for me, the last time I wore anything remotely dress-shaped was at my second wedding (it's our nineteenth anniversary at the winter solstice), and our son (thirteen) regularly discusses physics (and time travel - spot the Dr Who aficionados...) with me. And my husband and I absolutely have used contraception right the way through our relationship, except when we decided to try for a sprog.

With more than 6 billion people living on this planet, I think we've had plenty of "God's own superabundance" for a while. And I would imagine that it's not contraception that kills love so much as the struggle to feed, house, and clothe a large family in this economy. How about you put less emphasis on having babies and more on getting an education and getting ahead in life?

More bullshit. The Church has repeatedly tried to stifle ALL sex except in the name of procreation.
One, it can't be 53%, because the nationwide rate of divorce is 50%, and the use of contraconceptives is enormous. Second, can you put your statistics up-to-date?, and cite sources for that matter?. And by the way, couldn't God make money and substainty more boundless?. And what's the difference between natural and not natural contraconception?. It would be equally harmfull, following your logic. By the way, correlation doesn't mean causation. If people who use NFP don't divorce as much as those who use regular contraconception(and alert from 1972, the numbers have rosen sharply, which reinforce our thesis)is because they have more difficulties to divorce, not because it works. In fact, the numbers concerning VD in the Catholic Church, without being catastrophic, give concern to officials. Why?, that a couple doesn't split doesn't mean that they do it out of marital bliss. It means that they refuse to divorce but that their marriage is not happy.

I may not be married, but based on my observations, the marriages that tend to work are the ones where there is open communication and mutual respect. You have to feel like you are able to tell your partner what you want and that you can feasibly get that from them.

Perhaps because in the backward communities that practice Natural Family Planning, divorces are very much frowned upon, so people stay married even though they have nothing in common any more, besides their large brood of offspring.
When I was little, I dreamed of what I would become, which profession I would have, where I would live. A man to share it with was part of the dreams, sure, but not the one and only dream.
Contraception removes the fear of becoming pregnant at the wrong time. You don't have to "tame" your love but can engage in it whenever you want. How does that suffocate love?
