Don't you know that reading To Kill A Mockingbird is going to send you to Hell because it's on her [Oprah's] book list? How could you?

That's right, everyone knows God gave us dominion over mockingbirds. We've every right to kill 'em!
(I know that's not the issue, it was a joke.)
I like the other comment from this idiot in the thread further up.
"The actual meaning of "God is a jealous God" refers to the first commandment "Thou shall not have any other gods before me!" He is "jealous" of the gods that may steal our hearts."
So this thick fundi is now saying that there ARE other gods and her imaginary friend is not the only god. Stright to hell for this one.
This is not Fundi,
She goes on to say:
"But seriously, Oprah is an emotional basketcase."
So she is obviously joking, that whole thread is full jokes poking fun at Oprah's reading list.
Really, don't we have enough of a challenge trying to detect Poes?
Once a book is consecrated by Oprah, it becomes a demonic portal for the purpose of tormenting mankind. (and possibly, voting for Obama) The best defense against this is to lobotomize yourself and read nothing but the Babble.
Is that supposed to be racist, or is it a joke about Oprah's evil dictator/messiah/talk show host status? Or doesn't she know that To Kill A Mockingbird was created independent of Oprah's will or input, and really would not be permeated with Oprah's evil, despite her approval of it.
Oh well, any way you slice it, Poe or no, it is still pretty hilarious.
Smells like POE. There is one thing that irritates me almost as much as fundies. That is people who identify themselves as "jimsMommy" or "JohnsWife" rather than "Jane" or something. I guess what I'm trying to say is that is irks me when people (usually women) can't identify themselves as people, they need to belong to someone else.
/end rant
Poe. It's an obvious parody. My rule of thumb: if it looks like it should be in a MAD Magazine satire of the Religious Right, then it's a parody. It's not always easy. In an application form they ran a few years ago for the Moral Majority, they included the question:"When you and your friend play chess, are both sides 'white?'" As we have seen here, it may not be from the truth.
Aw, shoot, too bad this was a Poe.
I was gonna say "Of all the reasons to dislike Oprah Winfrey...."
So what if we read it long before Oprah ever picked it out?
Then again, why cant these fundies join a mainstream church like Oprahism?
I'm aware that this is a joke, though I seriously considered it to be a Poe. AND YET I POST IT ANYWAY!
I still get a laugh out of it, though.
EDIT: I was reading To Kill A Mockingbird before and after I submitted this quote to FSTDT. Just for laughs. ^_^
But...but...I have to for English.
Just so everyone knows, this comment was taken out of context.

OH GOD SOME WOMAN WITH A TV SHOW LIKES A BOOK AUGH WHAT
edit: oh damnit. I need to stop browsing FSTDT when I should be sleeping, I get hit with all the poes.
Grade Seven in Ontario. First school assigned book to impress on me, messaging good, short read. Unbelievable that fundies are against this, I think just because it shows a black man can be unfairly convicted and vindicated of a crime. Oddly enough on that note: Grade Eight, In The Heat Of The Night.
Is this why Canadians are kinder, friendlier more tolerant?
It might have something to do with it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
