There is no such thing as "Jewistan." And yes, how dare that rabbi want his religious holiday acknowledged? It's not like we have freedom of religion in this country! How dare he not submit to the reality that Christianity is the only religion in this country and thus the only one that should be acknowledged and promoted!

Yep, Christian early churches couldn't really do much about all the pagan holidays so they decided to invelop them into Christianity hence Christmas and easter.
Theoretically at Christmas christians are actually worshipping pagan gods that used to have human sacrifices.
Oh and at easter Christians are worshipping a fertility goddess.
I generally go along with both these, but its not a religious tradition, its a family and friends thing, that's how I feel anyway, if God wanted us to have festivals for him on those days he would've told us.

Can i ask what might seem like a really dumb question???
Here in Oz, we are not taught about Judaism or why Jews are supposedly 'bad'.
I dont think there is a really obvious Jewish population in Western Australia, not the Orthodox version anyway.
The only thing I really know about Jews is that they are a really persecuted race of people who were treated like animals by Hitler and dont have a homeland. I feel sorry for them.
What the hell do people have against them? What are they supposed to have done that warrants this attitude against them?
I feel like ive missed a big part of the picture :-P
