Unfortunately, I think this is the problem. Liberal Christians don't take God's word in its entirety, they think it fallible. They are 'cherry-pickers' and only believe in the parts of the Bible that fit their agenda.

All christians do this. Liberal, conservative, fundmendalist, evangelical, traditionalist, charismatic, etc. It's just that the liberals pick out the GOOD parts, and leave the junk behind, while fundamentialist and other conservatives take the shiteating, cocksucking junk, and leave the good stuff behind.
So, Magus55, you're out there actively stoning gays, rebellious teenagers, non-virgin brides, shell-fish eaters, etc.? If not, then aren't you cherry picking too?
Maybe this is in response to people like me who have pointed out many times how fundies (especially Rapturerites) never use Bible verses in any contextual flow. Evangelists preachers hop all over the Bible, verse from here, verse from there, never, say, even ten verses in a row.
All of them, and all their sheep follow that pattern. This is one of the main reasons they came in in polls as the group that least knows whats in the Bible, below moderate Christian and Atheists. It's them that embraced the concept of Bible Codes also, as an excuse for their dogma that's not supported by the Bible.
Again I plead to all you religious folk: Start "in the beginning" and read every verse in order until you finish. None of you, EVEN YOUR PREACHERS have ever done this.
However it is perfectly cool for your lot to stockpile apologetics which keep you from having to follow the actual words of your supposed savior.
Liberal Christians have been on the front line of every civil rights movement in our nation's history. Their opponents were conservative Christians. If the conservatives are really the ones who are taking god's word in its entirety then they can have it!
He's right you know. It is the Liberal Christians that give religion a veneer of respectability. Religion is dying. If the fundie view was all that the world saw of religion, it would die off that much quicker, for the benefit of all humanity
Typical Modern-day Fundie Logic:
The Bible is the inerrant, literal word of God when it talks about the Earth being created in six days and homosexuality being an abomination. The Bible is a flawed work interpreted by errant humans when it talks about loving your neighbor, turning the other cheek, and the evils of greed, polyester, and shellfish.
