I know that America was created by God and it was created by God, not for wealth, personal wealth. It wasn't created by God so that we would have the resources that we now have. It wasn't even created by God to have the freedom that we have now. America was created by God to spread the Gospel; to spread the word of Jesus Christ and to propagate Christianity. And the reason I know that is because my entire political career is exhibited by that. The Lord walked with me —I came to Christ in the first year in Congress and now I've been walking with the Lord he has trained me and showed me why he created this nation: to spread the Gospel

Then God must have been accomplishing quite the stealth operation.
Never mind that John Adams, an ardent Christian, was the one who wrote the Treaty of Tripoli. Among other things, it assured the Barbary States that the campaigns weren't another Crusade, since the United States never intended to be a Christian nation...
Damn, I approved this quote, thought it was from RR or something. Then I realized who this is.
How did THIS GUY get to be House Majority Leader?
"We the people in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosperity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America"
You know DeLay when one swears to uphold the Constitution of the United States I had no idea there wasn't any requirement to understand what any of it meant.
Maybe instead of having these idiots swear to uphold the constitution, we should make them stand there and read the damn thing out loud. Yeah it would take a while, but it may be an eye-opener for them.
"...It wasn't created by God..."
I know it's out of context, but this is probably the only true thing this guy has ever said.
I assume blocking tons of legislation that would make life easier for America's lower class a part of the work of God? You're a lying, conniving sack of shit Republican and I'm glad those scandals finally caught up with you and forced you to leave office. America would be better off if you killed yourself.
America was created by God to spread the Gospel; to spread the word of Jesus Christ and to propagate Christianity.
So I guess all the other nations that existed for the 2,000 years before America showed up were just useless, eh?
I know that America was created by God...
No, you don't. The 13 colonies were created by Britain. America as a nation was created by several thousand Humans fighting tyranny and thinking up an all-new method of governing the population. Thomas Jefferson would stick his booted foot in your ass for denying the credit to all those who sacrificed and died to see something new under the sun--a government by the people and for the people instead of the people languishing under the heel of a divine king.
A**hole.

Its not a new system of government. Technically it was similar to the French. And indeed very similar to the greek democracies. AND it was hardly languishing when compared to the other colonies.
@FMG
Actually, the French got the idea from the Americans.
King Louis XVI sent his army to assist the American Revolutionaries, because he wanted revenge on the British, with whom the French have a long-standing enmity. The French soldiers returned with the concept of revolution. Not to mention that the cost of the war exacerbated the already precarious financial position of the French government.
All in all, not a smart move for Louis. About on par with Mr. DeLay's post.
Spread the gospel, just like spreading freedom. With a wheelbarrow, shovel and rake.
DElay has found yet another trashy scam.
That is a lie. Some of the founding fathers didn't even believe in God at all and the country is supposed to be a secular nation free for all witch is why we don;t have a notional religion set, to stop religious wars from happening, but the fundies, like you, are trying to make it into a theocracy and as the signs get worse, I'm moving to Canada.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
