[Responding to the question of rather or not The Anti-Christ must be of European origin, eliminating Obama from the pool of candidates.]
I don't think the A/C has to be of European origin. I'm not sure of the verse, but I believe in the Bible it says that he will be of the people who destroyed the Temple. Most people think Roman, and assume European origin.
But if you think about it, the Roman army often drafted soldiers from the local populations. So if the legion that destroyed the temple was made of locals, they probably would have been Arabic racially, because local Jews would not have ransacked their own Temple. Am I correct in thinking that?
And it's interesting to consider that Barack Obama is about 40% Arabic on his father's side. I'm not saying that he is the A/C, but I think its a little hasty and even irresponsible to say that he is definitely not.
We should just trust in God, and wait and keep our eyes peeled.

Obama HAS to be the Antichrist! He's a BLACK MAN running for PRESIDENT! And he has a vaguely-Arabic name, so he MUST be Arabic, a terrorist, an extremist, and therefore the devil!
*headdesk*
Except totally not.
I just realized something... if no one will know when the antichrist will rise, how the Hell does that not create a paradox? Some of these people believe that Obama will be the antichrist, so wouldn't that mean that they know who he is? And doesn't that then mean that they have no reason to speculate as to whom it might be?
If you could grasp that, I'm surprised. Writing things out logically is not my strong point.
That whole thread is truly, deeply insane.
Like all RR threads, I guess. These people should be sectioned, as a danger to themselves and others (e.g. their children).
fergus
Retarded reasoning aside (Arabs are an ethnicity, not a race, and Kenyans don't qualify anyhow), is it even possible to be 40% of anything racially?
I think some have suggested on this thread that the Anti-Christ can be anyone, and Satan would have to possess the body of a powerful leader.
Growing up, I was told that the Anti-Christ would be European, likely taking his seat on the U.N. or some sort of "resurrected Roman Empire" political structure like the European Union.
But here, Rapture Ready wackos are wondering if Satan could choose Obama, because we haven't seen such charisma before, Oh Noes!!
@Jérôme: Well, it is quite documented that the soldiers from the Roman Army in those place and time were actually Greek, so that means you lose.
So does that mean Michael Dukakis was the Antichrist?
Phew. Threat averted. Relax, everyone!
"We should just trust in God, and wait and keep our eyes peeled."
Yeah, you do that. I'll go and play video games.
Nero, Caligula, Domitian, Attila, Muhammad, Sylvester II, Hulagu, Frederick Barbarossa, Timur, Napoleon, Hitler, every Soviet leader, Khomeini, every Democrat since FDR, Saddam Hussein, ad nauseam.
Accused Antichrists all. But do 2,000 years of failure deter the wingnuts for a second? If it did, they wouldn't be wingnuts.
Retarded reasoning aside (Arabs are an ethnicity, not a race, and Kenyans don't qualify anyhow), is it even possible to be 40% of anything racially?
The closest I can come to making sense of that using the old fractional heritage mumbo jumbo, in which case, if 3 of his 8 great grandparents were of a particular race, he'd be nearly 40% of that race.
"I'm not saying that he is the A/C, but I think its a little hasty and even irresponsible to say that he is definitely not."
You see, that is the kind of intellectual honesty that makes us almost reluctant to call you a quasi-racist fundamentalist reactionary who will overthrow the government should the darkie get the presidency. I'm not saying that you are one, just that it would be irresponsible and hasty to say that you are not one.
He could be Egyptian. That's in Africa.
He could also be Chinese. After all, his half-sister is from Indonesia.
Who knows? Dumb, dumb, dumb.
"But if you think about it, the Roman army often drafted soldiers from the local populations. So if the legion that destroyed the temple was made of locals"
Well, apart from that tiny inconvenient fact that the recruits in the Roman army were never allowed to serve in their native lands. The Romans always brought in soldiers foreign to the region. Which from their point of view, was a very sensible action indeed.
Not to feed their delusions, but...
The guy's mother is white. They don't consider that European origin?
So he's, like what, only 40% "Antichrist"?
Oh noes! Barack Obama is the "Anti"!
My A/C has a big made in America sticker on it. Are you saying it's not a real A/C?
BTW Obama has a European mother, and an African mother. So if your going by ancestors then yeah, he is of European decent, or African.
And here I was thinking that the antichrist was Rick Ashley...
Oh well, you learn new things every day I guess.
*facefoot*
A lot of people have European ancestory. People from European nations have got around a fair bit throughout history, especially us Brits.
So your supposed anti-christ could come from pretty much anywhere.
Confused?
