Quote# 43909
It's not a Christian Church, but a cult. "The Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
I just had a Universalist tell me yesterday that "they believe everyone is going to Heaven, no one will enter eternal punishment". You don't have to be saved to get to Heaven!
Here's a link to the cult's web site.

Unitarian homepage: http://www.uua.org/visitors/index.shtml
I couldn't find their statement of belief or faith on the two above websites.
Here's their stand on Homosexuality: http://www.uua.org/aboutus/professio...lgay/index.php

What a horrible cult! And yes, I would not call the unitarians christian, at least not your definition of christian. That would be insulting.

A church that allows, even encourages free thought would be about as far from cultic as you could get. Even I'd join this church.
"I couldn't find their statement of belief or faith on the two above websites."
Maybe it was under that tab clearly labeled "what we believe"?

I think you should have said:
'Here's a link to the cult's web site.

At least the Unitarian Universalists welcome
anyone in their church services, regardless of their beliefs -
or lack of them. They don't condemn, nor judge others in any way, shape or form.
Just like the Jesus portrayed in the New Testament.
And they don't force their beliefs or morals upon anyone else, certainly via political means.
"You don't have to be saved to get to Heaven!"
That's the point. Just as Jews perform sacrifices during Yom Kippur as acts of atonement, Jesus sacrificed himself to atone for the sins of
all people. The wages of sin have been paid. Regardless of if you've been 'saved' or not.
UU is Christianity in it's purest form. Because it follows Jesus' commandment to 'Love your fellow man' - everything else follows from that.
Related Factoid: What you're looking at, the WWW? It was invented by Tim Berners-Lee.
Himself a Unitarian Universalist.
And by being part of a forum using software based on his invention - HTML - that makes you on Ruptured Retards part of the UU 'cult' too.

"It's not a Christian Church, but a cult."
And the difference would be...?

UUs are the last church I would think of as being a cult since they reject bigotry, such as with their support of same-sex marriage and allowing members of any or no religion.
Conservative Christian denominations, on the other hand, would be more cult-like. UUs are just laid back and focus on living a good life instead of bickering over whether any or no religions are right or wrong and just focus on being good for goodness's sake and not because some sky daddy commands it.

Telling everyone that they don't have to join their sect for God to love them is cult behaviour? Is it Opposite Day?
