Quote# 44035

n California, gay activists are pulling out all the stops as the state prepares to vote on a marriage-protection amendment.

Originally, the ballot initiative's summary statement explained that the amendment simply defined marriage as between a man and a woman. Now, it also states that the amendment will "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry."

Several groups, including the Alliance Defense Fund, filed an emergency lawsuit Tuesday to delete the negative and misleading additions from the ballot.

Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the attempts by California and Massachusetts to impose same-sex "marriage" on the nation will result in legal chaos.

"Those 48 other states and their courts are forced to deal with fallout from exported same-sex 'marriages,' like divorce, alimony, child support, estates and other issues," he said. "They will be addressing issues they are not equipped to deal with, except in a traditional marriage context."

Not equipped to deal with?

"Steve, there's a problem with this divorce case."

"Looks pretty standard to me, what's the problem?"

"It's a gay couple."

Negative? Yes. Misleading? No.

Saying it "protects marriage" or some such nonsense is misleading.

There are so many quotes about same-sex marriage i'm begining to lose interest.

'"Those 48 other states and their courts are forced to deal with fallout from exported same-sex 'marriages,' like divorce, alimony, child support, estates and other issues," he said.'

'Cause the other states NEVER have to deal with any of that from "traditional" marriages done out-of-state, right?

'"They will be addressing issues they are not equipped to deal with, except in a traditional marriage context."'

And how would it be any different from addressing the exact same issues arising from hetero marriages?

Thus legal recognition. Idiot.

Old meme.

"Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the attempts by California and Massachusetts to impose same-sex "marriage" on the nation will result in legal chaos."

A bit like imposing interracial marriage, right? God forbid we treat everyone equally!

Doctor Whom

Obviously, we should forbid divorce, as Jesus commanded. What's that you say? That's completely different because it would cramp your style? Thought so.

And that's part of moving forward. Honestly, you'd think they'd have more important things to worry about.

Well, actually, I imagine there are some issues. "Family" law, as currently written, has some odd tilts to it where alimony, child custody, and child support come into play. The courts will have to actually pay attention to the cases, and we can't have making them think~!

Allegory for Jesus

How the hell does the gender of the married partners affect divorce, alimony, child support and estates? This guy must be talking out of his ass....but, even otherwise, those problems could probably be remedied quite easily. But, these people need any excuse they can muster to stop the gays from getting married. I cannot fully express my level hatred for such people...

It is what I expect from those nice moral and honest Focus on Family folks, after all not like actually saying what you want to isn't that what Jesus would do........in Bizzaro world

See if you people actually believed in honesty, you wouldn't have a problem with this. But you can only get your laws passed with lies, smoke and mirrors.

I'm really tired of the fucking lies.

I just raised $200 for the Human Rights Campaign to cock-slap people like this and protect same-sex marriage.

Hey there, Devon and Bruce (You guys couldn't have picked more gay sounding names...right, Brucie?), I'll make you guys a straight deal. The American people will allow your church (and any other church) to participate in our system of government as soon as you pay the price everyone else does--taxes. The rest of us are "payin' the cost to be the boss"--what makes your bunch of low-class thieves special?

Here's a little thing I made. Tell me if this sounds like something ala 1950's Fundie after a few minor tweaks:

"n California, black activists are pulling out all the stops as the state prepares to vote on a marriage-protection amendment.

Originally, the ballot initiative's summary statement explained that the amendment simply defined marriage as between a white man and a white woman. Now, it also states that the amendment will "eliminate the right of interracial couples to marry."

Several groups, including the Alliance Defense Fund, filed an emergency lawsuit Tuesday to delete the negative and misleading additions from the ballot.

Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the attempts by California and Massachusetts to impose interracial "marriage" on the nation will result in legal chaos.

'Now, it also states that the amendment will "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry."'

And this is misleading... how? It's exactly what they're trying to do. But apparently unless you're spinning it as 'defending woman/man marriage,' they don't like it. Boo hoo...

It's already been said, but why spazz out simply for a gender issue?

Personally, I think a gay-divorce-court TV show has possibilities.

Frankly, I think the export of same-sex marriage isn't going to do California's economy a lot of good.

Maybe, the more traditional agriculture and movie exports can be improved and would do better. Historically, when California was actively exporting divorce, despite the expert opinion prevailing at the time, the ROI sucked. The same for child support and alimony.

As soon as other states reverse-engineered the products, California's divorce, alimony and child support manufacturers went bust. I predict the same thing for this new-fangled same-sex marriage. A couple of years of great sales, then nothing.
