Given the teachings he followed for 20 years (but didn't inhale!) I have to wonder what words that prayer contained. Dear Lord, please forgive Obama for being half white, and help him to make this country a chocolate nation we can finally be proud of?

Because one preacher seemed racist, the whole church is racist? Fucking idiot.
As a note, I don't blame Rev. Wright (entirely) for the things he said: He was in his 30s when the Tuskegee study (where the government secretly infected black males with syphilis) was exposed; would YOU blame him for not trusting the government's official position on diseases?

I checked out the Tuskegee study and from what I've read the government didn't actually infect them with syphilis; they just studied a group of black men who already seemed to have siphilis and gave them deliberate false diognosis and prevented them from recieving any siphilis treatment so they could see what would happen if the disease was left untreated to find out if the treatments were actually any better than the disease.
It still doesn't really make it any less fucked up though. If you want another fucked up government experiment check out the chemical/biological warefare testing the UK government did during the cold war.

It's racism responding to racism, though. It's not fair to call the poster on it and ignore Rev. Wright and Obama's religious background. Rev. Wright was not "one preacher who seemed racist" - he was *the* leader of the church throughout Obama's 20 year involvement with this particular congregation.

(a) I'm sure that, over the course of 20 years, Wright had other sermon topics; (b) listening to something does not imply acceptance or agreement. I was subjected to more than 20 years of relentless Christian "teaching" when I was a young man. Didn't believe it then. Don't believe it now.

Nowhere in Wright's speeches did he actually say that he hates white people. He criticized the government, and went a bit far with his "da govament liessssss" crap, and the conspiracy theories were ridiculous, but there is no indication anywhere that he and his church hate white people.

Ah, but remember, criticizing the U.S. government or suggesting that racism is a major problem both in and out of the government hurts the feelings of white people who don't want to think of themselves as racist, and is thus ZOMGREVERSERACISM!.

Regarding Rev. Wright, it's true that I haven't studied his ministry in any great detail, so I might have been mistaken in making a blanket statement about his church. But, there does appear to be a racial undertone to much of that church's ministry.
While it's true that sitting and listening to something doesn't mean that you necessarily agree with it, why would a grown mad choose to actively spend twenty years of his life listening to something he didn't agree with?

Obama was asked if he ever did pot at college. He replied that he did. The interviewer then asked if he inhaled, Obama replied "Of course, that's the idea." Funny guy. He'd get my vote if I didn't live in the UK
I thought it was intelligent sarcasm. If you think about it, she/he covered a few bases with that (did you morons happen to catch the clinton jab, or were you too busy looking for something to bitch about?). All you have heard from Obama is that he is black, he leaves out his slave owning white side (yes you can look that up). Everyone freaks out when the white guy says something that pales in comparison to what you hear black folks saying on tv every damn day.

Is racism only ok if you are any color but white? Look at her/his post carefully, they are not as racist as you think- I have been reading their posts for years (yes I am that bored). Obama is 1000% more racist on any given day, and so are his "pastors". His "pastor" of 20 years made a racist comment every 3 seconds he preached, was that ok? Have you people been drinking the white guilt kool-aid? How do you sit and listen to racist rants for 20 years and not take one second to say....hey! That isn't right! If a white pastor said the same about black people, Jesse Jackson would have shut that church down in less time than it takes to say "I'm offended".
