...Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him – a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib and seemingly holding all the answers to all the world's questions.
And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won't be Barack Obama, but Obama's world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive.
He will probably also stand in some European capital, addressing the people of the world and telling them that he is the one that they have been waiting for. And he can expect as wildly enthusiastic a greeting as Obama got in Berlin.
The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance.

So Obama fits all the criteria for the Antichrist, but he isn't the Antichrist? Then who is?
And foretaste is not a word. I'm fairly certain of that.
"The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist."
No, it doesn't. The Bible speaks of antichrists (little a) what - one time? But no Antichrist.
Hal Lindsey has been proven a fraud a million times and dumbass christians keep buying his books and other crap. They never learn.
You should worry,
You should fear,
The Antichrist will soon be here!
Translated from an Ancient Greek graffito.
@Laura
The Antichrist is mentioned outside of Revelations, and in connection with the end of the world:
1 John 2:18
"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."
2 Thessalonians 2:3
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"

@Allegory for Jesus:
That's kind of the point. It would be almost impossible to discern the actions of the Antichrist from Christ, that's kind of the point.
How many thousands of Antichrists have there been in the last few decades, Hal?
With Obama, there's hope that the US can drag ourselves out of the many different ruts that the Chimp-in-Charge has cut.
blah blah blah, Obama is the antichrist. Yeah, we get it.
@Mortok
Foretaste is indeed a word. I'm certain of this because I know how to use a dictionary :)

hmm...well, they said it first, Obama is Jesus!
Who the hell listens to Hal Lindsey (or Tex Marrs) anymore?
Oh, right... fundies!
@Mortok:
"Foretaste" was used in the hymn familiar to many fundies: "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine/ Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine..."
Lindsey's another false rapture/tribulation prophet--all of his stuff was supposed to happen in the 80s. His "nonfiction" books were the Left Behind of their time. And just like LB, they're full of shit and made their authors rich.
But, there's always at least three homes for blatant criminals like Lindsey: the Republican Party, World Net Daily, and any fundamentalist church.
Marinara.
@ JohnathonE Jesus Christ is, in fact, very real.
It makes me sad to see what kind of a reputation Christians have gotten from the unkind things we say, the way we treat others who are different from us, and our Bible illiteracy. When I sat out to seek the truth about Christ, the Bible, and the universe, I began to carefully study the Gospels, and pray for wisdom. I was soon struck by the unconditional love of Christ and His innate common sense. I have studied The Works of Josephus, The Signature of God by Grant Jeffrey, and Josh McDowell. I try to stay from too much TV, etc. so that I can think for myself.
How do you know when you've come into contact with a sincere follower of Christ? When you see LOVE in action.
@Lesley +: "How do you know when you've come into contact with a sincere follower of Christ? When you see LOVE in action."
Still waiting. Hoping, to be fair. But just get rid of those other stupid shits if you can.
I remember this guy from my childhood. The ad for "The Late Great Planet Earth" would blast on tv and strike terror into my 7 year old heart. I would leave the room, or plug my ears, but I was somehow drawn to the ad and the fact that soon, I would perish. I prayed frantic prayers but knew in the back of my mind the end was going to come, anyway.
What a terrible way to experience "Christ" for the first time in a young child's life! I was stunned when this asshat made a "comeback" of sorts, rewriting and revising his words to match present day happenings.
Long story short, fundamentalist BS made me turn my back on any form of Christ seeking for many years, unhappily so. It was only until my mid-30s that I began to re-explore faith, namely, Progressive Christianity. I call myself a Christian, but the Fundies still distress me----not in a frightened child kind of way, but in a "I don't wanna lose faith in humanity" slant.
Eff you, Hal and your types, but this biyatch is back and no longer living in fear.
Hal Lindsey? Really? Isn't he the Evangelical that back in the 80's "prophecied" that the end of the world would come in 1988? People still listen to this fucktard? That shows that christians don't even care if their prophets are right, as long as they tell them what they want to hear. Sad, pathetic death cult.
Confused?
