Ali Sina calls Muhammad a pedophile because he married the 9-year old Aisha when he himself was 54! I have no problems believing it. But what I don't understand is why we are insulting Muhammad for a having a mental disorder called pedophilia? Was he himself responsible for having this disorder? According to psychology texts, mental disorders generally happen in a person without his/her consent and in most cases without his/her knowledge as well. So did he really know he had a mental disorder? Even if he did, then what? Surely we can't blame anyone for his mental or physical sickness or can we?

Just to let you know, a person can have thoughts about molesting children, thoughts about having sex with them or he may actually commit these acts in real still WITHOUT being a pedophile. DO you doubt? I guess you should read your favourite DSM-IV again. And I think we would all agree on one fact: Pedophile usually act on their urges a lot sooner than turning 54. Don't you think?

However, it does strike me as unbelievably sick and twisted (and not in a good way).

Don't try to pull that "unthinkable" crap. Just because an idea is just now being accepted doesn't mean it's wrong. In fact, it usually means the opposite and that we're becoming a more tolerant society. Nice try.
1) Pedophilia is DEFINED as having a sexual attraction to prepubescent children, so yes, 'just' having the thoughts classes you as a pedophile (note that I say "you", sick fuck).
2) The thoughts themselves may not be the person's fault, but acting on them certainly is. All child molesters are pedophiles, but not all pedophiles have to become child molesters -- they CAN resist the urges if they have a conscience and seek help.
3) The difference between pedophilia and gay marriage is simple: Adult homosexuals are capable of consenting to sex and marriage. A child is not. Unless the entirety of the human race suddenly morphs into sociopaths, pedophilia will never be legal, and an adult marrying a child is certainly never going to be accepted.
So what if pedophilia is recognised as a condition rather than a mental disorder in 50 years?
That still dosen't make it ok. No amount of your pedophilia apologist fuckery will ever, ever make it ok.

Mohammed was in a culture where that was acceptable and in a time where people reached maturity (socially and sexually) earlier than they do today, due mostly to the kinds of responsibilites thrust upon them and the necessity to breed early and often. Kind of hard to diagnose him as a pedophile by today's social standards, when we only know it as such in an industrial era.
Besides that point, pedophiles will probably not be given rights to marry prepubescent children unless we first make it possible for people of that age and maturity to enter into legally binding contracts. Probably not going to happen due to the massive chance that they are uninformed and would be exploited by the other party, or by third parties. I don't know what your motivation was for positing that particular slippery slope...but it is still a failure.

Assuming that to be true, and Mohammed to be irresponsible for his creepy, paedophilic actions, we're more concerned about all those people who, rather than stopping him, held that fucker up and continue to hold him up as a beacon of morality and virtue.
If he was a pedophile, he was not responsible for the disorder, but he was responsible for acting on his disorder.
Was Aisha definitely the first child he had sex with? It might have happened a lot over the years, but as I said, women were property, and children as well, so no-one probably did bat an eye, as long as he had adult sex as well.
Homosexuality, just like heterosexuality, concerns adult attraction and consenting sex. It can't be compared with child-molestation, which is neither adult nor consensual. Children can't give informed consent, so it doesn't matter whether the adult has a condition or a mental disorder. The moment he or she moves in on a child, it's no longer just his/her problem, but the molested child and its parents are also involved.
