Actually, nonbelief in the United States
more than doubled during the 90s. At that same time, homicide
fell by 50%. It seems the correlation is exactly the
opposite of what the fundie supposes.

I was about to say exactly what Amos said. In any case, though, correlation does not equate to causation.

Actually, crime has become less prevalent since the early 90s, while atheism has indeed been increasing rapidly.
Is there still a correlation?

Hey... the value of the American dollar is going down--so are abortion rates. Coincidence?

As European imperialism has declined obesity has been on the increase. Could it be that without exercise in the form of killing natives/stealing resources we've all become fat?

Let's see, more Atheism in countries has led to:
Higher education
Higher life expendancy
Higher tolerance
Higher literacy
Lower teenage pregnancys
Lower drug dependancy and use (even in Amsterdam)
Lower (Much) crime rate
Lower stupity rate
Europeans may seem stupid (and some are) but they got nothing on fundie stupid

Japan has a lot of atheists, and almost no crime.
You lose.

The ratio of crime vs population has remained the same. Population has gone up, so the numbers of crimes have gone up right along with it, but the percentages remain constant.

However, to be consistent, United is both the most religious state of the western industrialised and the one with the highest criminality. Conversely, Norway and Japan, atheist countries, have the lowest.

I totally agree! And, *gasp*, there is global warming! We must kill the atheists in order to lower the global temperature! BLAST 'EM WITH THE LAZZERS SCOTTY!

Actually the crime rate started going down about 18 years after Roe v. Wade. You figure it out.

So, all those countries with the atheist majority should actually be nothing but dust by now. But they're not. In fact, I think I'd like to live in one or two of those countries despite being in the minority.
And correlation != causation, bitch!

Fundies are getting louder and more violent. There's part of the reason for crime increase right there.

Actually, the opposite correlation is true if you observe the % in prison populations compared to the % in the general population.

Actually, there are way more Christians in US prisons than atheists. I think it's clear who we really need to watch out for.
