Actually, there is something in our water supply that causes a rainbow when light passes through the spray. It's called WATER.

This is what happens when you drink tainted water.

"I'm just wondering what the heck is in our water supply..."
Perhaps it's water?

Dihydrogen Monoxide. It'll get you every time. I'd start a petition if I were you.

Wouldn't impurities in the water and air keep the rainbow from forming, not cause it to be brighter?

Hey Rallymodellerr, it's not Dihydrogen Monoxide, it's Oxygen Dihydride.
Geez, pay attention...

I don't know what it is, but if it's oozing from the ground it can't be good.

Please read a physics text book. That should explain these big scary rainbows to you. @ Corwyn: He's right, it is actually Dihydrogen Monoxide. And I know I'm right coz I'm doing Chemistry at School.

Hmmm, it's on College Humor, a site known for satirical content. Are we sure this isn't a joke?

@Darth Vader:
No, it isn't. It's a real video, they just co-opted it for mocking purposes.

At low temperatures, the oxygen hydrate that gives the rainbow does form a mineral in the oxide, not salt, group. Ice, with a vitreous luster, a hexagonal crystal, and no streak.

Of course this didn't happen 20 years ago! Everything was still in black and white then.

I believe that the preferred IUPAC term for this impurity is oxilane. It's nearly everywhere! Consumption of a mere 3 kg of oxilane may result in death. Inhalation of pure oxilane causes death within 20 minutes. It's also addictive: once you start consuming it, you can never stop. Failure to consume oxilane within seven days results in dehydration and death.
...
All right, so the joke is a little old.
