Is atheism an easy way out, since we don't know what happens after death its easier to deny/reject everything?
its harder and strong minded to accept something without proof...but it easier and simple/weak minded to reject anything that has no proof...

Where the Hell were people like you when I was doing 25+ years in sales? "Of course our Skin Derm-Abrasan Kit cures cancer! If you order now I can send you one personally signed by Martin Luther King, Jr."
Well, let's see if that's true:
Choice A: believing that you can do anything you want and you'll be forgiven if you kiss Jesus' butt enough; and no matter how much you screw things up in this life because you're stupid and uneducated and can only get a job unloading trucks at the WalMart warehouse, you'll live forever in paradise.
Choice B: believing that what goes around comes around and you need to follow the Golden Rule because this is the only life you get; and you'd best work your butt off and get a $150,000 job as a biochemist to make the best of it.
Sounds like A is the easier choice for the dumb and lazy.
Actually, many studies show a direct link between high IQ and atheism, and, conversely, low IQ and religious belief.
Weak minded people with lazy minds will accept stories and ideas that make life easier to cope with. It is easier to believe in eternal redemption than to face the cold, hard fact that apart from reproduction, there is no absolute necessity for our species to exist.
Having said that, the freedom from the rituals of religious beliefs, ie, bible "study", fitting in to "moral" standards, associated guilt and so on, allows one to focus on what can be done to make our species more viable and less destructive. In this manner, and really, only in this manner, can the redemption of mankind occur.
"but it easier and simple/weak minded to reject anything that has no proof... "
And correct.
Just because it's hard to accept God doesn't make it true, or make you smart.
Ok, fmko, tell me why you reject all the 6789+ some gods and is left with one.
Why is Valhall so bad? Plenty of Mjod and willing women, what more do you want? Oh yeah, you fight each day and get killed on the battlefield before you go home to food, drink and women. Now, that's paradise!
Why do you want some boring angels with harps?
Or, is it easier to claim we are too insignificant to effect anything and too stupid to understand how things work or began? Is it tougher to take responsibility for one's life or to say it's part of God's plan? To rely on evidence or a book of ancient myths? Golly, that's a tough one, huh?
No. Because we don't know what happens to death that's why religions that preach an eternal afterlife draw so many followers. So why is it weak minded to be able to see through the false promise of religion, and accept that this life is all you get and once you die you're gone. That kind of reality scares the shit out of people.
"its harder and strong minded to accept something without proof"
then
"but it easier and simple/weak minded to reject anything that has no proof..."
so what is it ?
Ever heard of the story "The Emperor's new clothes " Yeah, you're not the kid that yelled that he's naked.
Allow me to steal from a Garfield comic, if I may...
"Anybody can use a bottle opener, but it takes a *real* man to open the bottle with his teeth."
*Bites the cap of bottle, his teeth come out, still clamped on the bottle*
"...a real *stupid* man..."

I actually agree with this to a certain degree. If you're a Christian, you can never really be sure that you've done the right thing to get into heaven. Even when it comes to the "being saved" requirement, there are still other stipulations in the Bible. Some parts say you need good works too. Jesus says that it is very hard for a rich person to enter heaven because of his love of material things more than God (something like that). And even if you think the Bible makes it clear that you only need to believe in Jesus to be saved, you're still relying on the Bible being absolutely true. It's all very risky business! However, in the long run believing in an afterlife is really the easiest way out because it is easier to face uncertainty of where you go after death than face the cold reality that one's existence stops at that point. Most Christians are pretty certain they're going to heaven when they die anyway, so the previous paragraph doesn't even apply for them!
Yes, atheism is an easy way out because it forces you to make decisions about your own life, rather than simply assume that when you die you go to a wonderful fairy-tale palace.
Uh-oh. The irony in here is reaching toxic levels- and my sarcasm's not helping...
What happens after death? In my 73 years I have been in a state of clinical death TWICE.
fmko, prepare thyself for the biggest disappointment imaginable, because there is SFA (sweet fuck all) on the other side.
Confused?
