False. Most Single cell organisms can reproduce sexually and asexually. Animals today cant do that because we are much more complex, splitting in half would not work.

Did your mom forgot to have the "birds and bees" talk with you? Everyone starts life as one single cell. You know, the one you are sooooo eager to protect, even if it means the death of the mother-to-be. The single cell starts to split in half and the two cells split in half and the four cells splits in half, and on and on and on. At about six to eight weeks, when most abortions happens, I guess, the fetus looks like a lizard, complete with a tail. Somewhere around week 15 it starts looking humanlike.
The swedish photographer Lennart Nilsson has made a picture book of the fetal development, from conception to birth. You might wanna pick up a copy and learn about your own first 9 months.
