[Question: Atheists and Christians: if you were negotiating a peace treaty here in R&S, what would be your 'demands?'?
The only rules are:
1) You can't ask the other person to give up their current belief system or lack thereof.
2) You must be polite -- after all, the other side can walk out of the negotiations at any time. ;-)
Keep in mind that the goal is peace between both sides, not converting anyone to your mindset.
Answer:
I want atheists to stop being stupid, pseudo-intellectual, pretentious, rebellious and homosexual, and to believe in Christ as their saviour--it's for their own good!
[Aaah, feel the Christian love...Still we wonder why we can't get along?]

Oh, few things make my slapping hand twitchier than the phrase "it's for their own good."
I'd like fundies to *listen*. Seriously.
"I want atheists to stop being stupid, pseudo-intellectual, pretentious, rebellious and homosexual, and to believe in Christ as their saviour--it's for their own good!"
Done
Done
Never!
I'm not really rebellious
I've been straight my whole life, and I still am.
Violates the rules.
You know, one does not have to be gay to be an atheist, nor does being gay make one an atheist. In fact, the two are not related at all. Although, atheists certainly tend to readily accept gay people as, well, people. I imagine many formerly religious gays become atheists after being treated like shit from you fundies.
I want Christians to stop being stupid, bible-thumping, ignorant, disregarding of science and to accept other ways of thinking--it's for their own good!
"I want atheists to stop being stupid,"
Never having been stupid, I can accommodate this desire.
"pseudo-intellectual,"
Done! I like to think of myself as genuinely intellectual.
"pretentious,"
Not guilty. Well, OK, not entirely guilty... most of the time.
"rebellious"
Guilty as charged, and damn proud to be so.
"and homosexual,"
I'm not homosexual.
"and to believe in Christ as their saviour"
I have considered that course, tried that course, and determined that Christianity, and all other religions, are essentially worthless, in fact, counter-productive and should be abandoned.
"it's for their own good!"
Must be some new definition of good with which I'm not familiar.
i want christians to stop prosletyzing and stay out of politics and medicine
and possibly also police work, firemen and teachers.
good enuff
I stipulate another condition:
3) All those with OCD and other anomalous psychological conditions, please stand down.
I want atheists Christians to stop being stupid, pseudo-intellectual, pretentious, rebellious and homophobic, and to believe in logic and reason as their saviour saviour--it's for their own good!
Christianity is absolutist. It cannot conceive of toleration. It's writings have pointed this out quite openly down the centuries. While it still had political power or backing, it used torture and death by fire as weapons to annihilate anyone who was even suspected of having an heterodox religious thought.
The proposal by ?'? is therefore a nonsense from start to finish. A total waste of time.
Ok, I'l give it a go.
I want Christians to stop attempting to interfere with science education.
I want Christians to stop harassing homosexuals.
I want Christians to stop using fear (hell) to coerce people into conversion.
I want Christians to uphold the separation of church and state and to respect the US Constitution and equivalent documents around the world.
I'm sure there are many more, but those are the big ones for me.
#689892 FTW! Except that I'd replace "possibly also" by "definitely", particularly as far as education is concerned.
@Grigadil:
3) All those with OCD and other anomalous psychological conditions, please stand down.
Hey, I have OCD and it doesn't prevent from thinking logically! It most certainly didn't make me a theist.

As I parse it, ?'? only wrote the (very stupid) answer, not the question. There should be a "]" after "not converting anyone to your mindset." Of course, it would be irrealist to expect extremists/integrists/fundies to be able to seriously negotiate a peace treaty, but I suppose that the question was directed more toward the moderates of the board.
"1) You can't ask the other person to give up their current belief system or lack thereof. "
Sounds reasonable. But wait, then he says:
"I want atheists... to believe in Christ as their saviour"
He just violated his own first rule!
"I want atheists to stop being stupid, pseudo-intellectual, pretentious, rebellious and homosexual, and to believe in Christ as their saviour--it's for their own good!"
done
done

Im rebelious when need be
