Atheism is definitely a religious position, with a negative agenda ("Christians must die!") and a positive agenda ("Whatever is convenient is right" is a common one; conformity to some subset of societal values, in other words).
The tendency of atheists to rely on unargued denial of what they don't want to hear is also a defining characteristic.

Sadly, most of my atheistic brethren have not yet read up to Darwinonomy 23:14 and so have not fully incorporated Da**in's command to kill all Christians into their way of life yet. Though I am very happy to see more and more accepting Da**in into their hearts and homes, and someday soon the Four Apemen will come riding in to rid His country of the X-tian scourge!!! Hallelujah!!! Praise Mendel!!! :) XD <:)
On a side note, you're arguing that a religious position is any thought that has both a negative and a positive agenda... So, you do agree that X-tianity has a negative position? Glad to see someone fessing up.
The stupid is strong in this one.
Neither I nor any atheist I know wants to kill Christians. On the other hand, a good deal of us would just wish they'd shut the fuck up and quit nosing their crap into everyone's business.
Geez, even retired I don't have time to run around killing Christians. Once in a very great while if I see an elderly, infirm Christian woman using a walker, I'll kick it out from under her. No random killings, though.
*doing my fairly-good impression of John Leguizamo as Clown, from the live-action Spawn movie*
Man, you were tied to the tracks, and that stupid-train just kept runnin' over ya , didn't it....runnin' over ya!
"Atheism is definitely a religious position"
a-: prefix meaning "not"
theist: one who is religious/believes in a god
a- + theist = atheist = not religious.
[Atheism is definitely a religious position...]
No, it is not. Atheism is the absence of faith. Consult your dictionary for details.
[...with a negative agenda ("Christians must die!")]
Please refer to Exodus 22:18 in your Bible. What does it say?
Now, please cite for me where atheists have called for the death of Christians.
[...and a positive agenda ("Whatever is convenient is right" is a common one; conformity to some subset of societal values, in other words).]
Uh...huh? Care to elaborate? Use english next time.
[The tendency of atheists to rely on unargued denial of what they don't want to hear is also a defining characteristic.]
Denial of what? God? What is wrong with not believing in something for which absolutely no evidence exists?
Deuteronomy 13:6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. 9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people.
Atheist.
The prefix a- meaning "not" or away from.
Theist meaning a person who believes in God.
Hardly a religious position.
And if you don't think Christianity is in any way conformed to a set of social values and norms, you're severely deluded.
Many texts in the old testament are cultural manifestos meant to define a way of life separate from the caanonites(sp?), like the purity laws in Leviticus for example.
In other words, you are a douchetard who doesn't even know the meaning of all those fifty-cent words you just used.
Atheism is definitely a religious position, with a negative agenda ("Christians must die!")
BULLSHIT. If any atheist believed that we would have had a second holocaust by now.
("Whatever is convenient is right" is a common one; conformity to some subset of societal values, in other words).
Using big words does not make you smart.
Ah, how would we atheists know what to believe, if Uncle Roger weren't here to tell us? Roger decided long ago what atheists believe. Actual evidence bothers him not one whit.
I do love his 'conformity to some subset of societal values' mantra. It's such a perfect catchall. Alas, it also catches him.
Deicide have this one covered
Kill The Christian:
You are the one we despise
Day in day out your words compromise lives
I will love watching you die
Soon it will be and by your own demise
Buried in hypocrisy
Lacerate your faith in god
Morally diseased
On the cross of Calvary your body bashed, defeated, stabbed
Blessing as you hate
Loyal to your enemies
Monetary faith
As him you'll pay for the lies of your prophecy
Satan wants you dead
Kill the christian, kill the christian
Kill the christian, kill the christian
Kill the christian, kill the christian
Kill the christian
Atheists aren't offended by gods, they are just offended by the death and bigotry that comes with worshipping them.
In my society absolutely NO-ONE gives a wet fart WHAT religion anyone is. All beliefs (and non-beliefs)are accepted and none are ever given any precedence over any other.
The exception are the extremists of all callings be they NeoNazis, Anarchists or (worst of all) Fundies.
The only time a persons faith (or lack of) is ever known, is at thier funeral.
However, idiots such as Roger Pearse love nothing better than to create conflict in fields where there were none before, and secretly wish to be seen as the oppressed martyr in the name of the most oppressive religion ever conjured up by man.
Christian fundamentalism is definitely a religious position, with a negative agenda ("gays and atheists must die!") and a positive agenda ("Whatever is justified by an ancient old book is right" is a common one; conformity to the same values of Nazis and Inquisitors, in other words).
The tendency of fundies to rely on unargued denial of what they don't want to hear is also a defining characteristic.
FIXED! ;)
Right. It's all about Christians. Not that you're totally wrong or anything, no, no, we totally want to like, kill all religious people. Yeah, no, we're the frigging bad guys here, telling you to stay out of other people's lives and keep your bigotry and brimstoning to yourselves.
But the point is, we just focus on Christians.
Man, if we actually thought about you as much as you think we think about you, we'd never get anything real or important done.
Which says a lot about you, really. Self-important, much?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
