Quote# 46083

Any atheist who is willing to admit that he/she ignores the evidence that creationists present?
2 Peter 3:3-6 "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:"

I was reading these verses, and I wondered if there were any atheists out there, who are willing to admit that they have never really looked into the creationist point of view? This question can also go out to the creationist in the same perspective. I'm guessing that no one from either side will admit it, but maybe I'll be surprised.

[How could someone with this kind of 'logic' ever see the light?]

I will be glad to look into any evidence you present for creationism once you show me some. All I've ever seen are tired old debunked arguments and Bible quotes.

Any christian who is willing to admit he/she doesn't understand the evidence that scientists present?

I was wondering if there are any christians out there, who are willing to admit that when they don't understand something, they don't look it up on google, they make shit up and triumphantly declare evolutionism defeated.

Why do fundies always assume anyone who isn't a creationist is an atheist?
Catholics accept evolution (just as there are Muslim creationists although thats a different story).

I haven't ignored creationist evidence, I've rejected it as contradictory, inconsistent, irrelevant or (frequently) just plain wrong.

For instance, claims that Darwin recanted on his deathbed, that evolution breaks the 2LOT, that there is too little salt in the seas or dust on the Moon for the Earth to be old, that X or Y or Z is irreducibly complex, that speciation has never been observed, and so on (ad infinitum).

I have heard these evidences, I have looked at them, and I have found them to be false, as have many, many people before me. What distinguishes a creationist from a scientist is that the latter will discard such widely and repeatedly discredited ideas, while the former will repeat them again and again to fresh audiences, in the hope of convincing anyone who does not know better to buy their lies (and, frequently, their books and videos too).

But your point of view is extremely illogical and you cannot make sense out of it.

As soon as someone presents some credible evidence for creationism then I will devour and digest it throughtly. As present however, all that's offered is bible quotes.

Since no religious persons can offer any evidence that the bible is actually the word of God and not written by 1st cent. CE christians, I cannot accept the bible as REAL evidence.

You got anything else? Anything which can be investigated, proved/dis-proved ?

Having been a creationisy most of my life, I kept searching for creationist evidence. It all proved to be false. Evolution actually explains nature in ways that never made sense with creationism..

You don't have to be a genius to predict there will be mockers if you're running around spouting BS.

I cannot consider this 'fundie' since this person also poses the same question to creationists (i.e. have they seriously considered the other side of the debate). Also, this person is merely asking atheists if they have genuinely tried to see the other side of the question. Absolutely nothing wrong with this.

I actually find this quotation to be quite reasonable.

Oh no! The Bible predicted that people wouldn't believe in the Bible! It must be true!

And, it is not hard to look into the Creationist point of view: apparently, it is entirely contained with the aforementioned book that is the only source of your perspective on the world.

They look at the creationist point of view. Why do you think they laugh at Kent Hovind?

"Any atheist who is willing to admit that he/she ignores the evidence that creationists present?"

You haven't presented any. You've gone to great lengths to twist, warp, intentionally misconstrue, misunderstand and generally fuck up real scientific evidence and then claim it's positive evidence for your cause but you've yet to actually do any scientifically valid work and present positive evidence of your own for your claim.

"2 Peter 3:3-6 "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:""

Wonderful. How about that evidence?

"I was reading these verses, and I wondered if there were any atheists out there, who are willing to admit that they have never really looked into the creationist point of view?"

I think most have looked at your "point of view" and, once the fit of laughter subsided, found it to be entirely lacking any scientific merit of any kind. At all.

Is that plain enough for you?

"This question can also go out to the creationist in the same perspective. I'm guessing that no one from either side will admit it, but maybe I'll be surprised."

Creationists look at evidence for evolution all the time. They have ready access to it since gobs of it are thrown at them every time they make one of their stupid fucking claims. Unfortunately they don't understand most of it and aren't really interested in it anyway. That's why they wait for their figureheads such as Hovind to tell them what to think.

The bible is not evidence for creation, the bible claim creation You need extra biblical evidence, I know that is a big and difficult expression for you religious nuts, but it only means that you need other evidence than the bible to support the claims in the bible..

I don't even know why I write this, they don't get it anyway.

Sorry, but I have looked intensely and unbiased into the creationists point of view.. and not only found it lacking, but found that its loudest proponents cherry pick and lie to prosyletize their pseudo science. And if thewse dont work, then they demonize and threaten.

I've spent a lot of time investigating creationist arguments, and the sad reality is that they don't have any evidence. It's all just desperate attempts at disproving evolutionary evidence.

Fine, I admit it.. most of the evidence that creationists present is so bat shit crazy that I rarely follow through the LONG WINDED rants born from ignorance, fear, and emotionalism.
