That's the way science works. We thought the planets went around the earth in epicycles and lightning was caused by God. Now we know better. They may make minor changes to the ToE here and there in the future, but it won't be to change it to Genesis. That's been disproved and is no longer seriously considered except by Muslims, Orthodox Jews and US Baptists.
Guns are fine as long as the people handling them are educated on what they are and are capable of... you are not such a person so I wouldn't trust you with a firearm if someone I didn't knows' life depended on it. Re the second amendment: There are more firearms per capita in Canada (I own two) than in the US. And yet our annual murder rate -- by all methods -- is roughly the same as a medium-sized American city.
