Allegory for Jesus
The OT God is considered merciful compared to what you think you'd do in the same situation? Honestly, that post alone should qualify him as a danger to himself and others, and should end with him being involuntarily hospitalized and treated for his profound case of antisocial personality disorder. Assuming, of course, that people had read the Bible without Jesus-colored glasses.
