Open acceptance of homosexuality does lead to it being encouraged. People will wind up doing things like marrying their best friend just for the heck of it and only existing for the shallow pleasuring of themselves. It's already starting, I know too many people that argue that gender shouldn't even be a barrier of romantic love. Romantic love should be reserved for a man and a woman. Friendly love and pure lust are too often confused and twisted together into one emotion where people decide to just be gay for the fun of it.

We need a scale and a law.
The scale would determine how far removed a person is from reality. Let's call it the Fundie Fail Scale.
The law would prevent anyone above a certain point on the Fundie Fail Scale to vote, hold public office, or publish material on the Internet.
I have a friend that I've known for 15 years. He's like a brother to me and I would say without a thought that I love him, but not once have I lusted after him, not once. Perhaps this is because I'm not gay, unlike masterchimp here.
Is masterchimp gay "just for the fun of it" or does he reaaaaaally like his best friend?
P.S. I've had the same best friend of 31 years. We love each other like sisters and there's no lust involved. So, I think what the chimp is doing here is revealing his own confusion over his sexuality.
"Romantic love should be reserved for a man and a woman."
And you know what?
I'm sick of plants growing.
I think plants should not be allowed to grow anymore!
Isn't it constantly promoted as a *good thing* when heterosexuals "marry their best friend"?
I'd much rather be married to my best friend (and wardrobe advisor, and bullshit-caller) who also inspires lust than what people like this consider a "good Christian man."
"Friendly love and pure lust are too often confused and twisted together into one emotion where people decide to just be gay for the fun of it. "
Random notions and hateful bullshit are too often confused and twistied together into one emotion where fundies decide to just be stupid for the fun of it.
Hmmm. I think an admixture of friendly love and lust led me to start dating the woman who is now my wife.
So what do you think of that, masterchimp10?
Be gay for the fun of it?
What's fun about being an outcast to most of society just because your attracted to the "wrong" gender? How is hearing stories of young people being harassed, abused, and even killed for being homosexual even remotely fun?
Does he seriously not understand that other people have actual emotions and working brains and beating hearts?
And to this whole quote and everyone who thinks like him...
Who the fuck do you think you are that you can define love for every other person on the planet?
"People will wind up doing things like marrying their best friend just for the heck of it..."
Why is this more likely then a man and a woman who are nothing more than friends deciding tog et married for the hell of it?
Although, I did suggest during university that it would be funny for me and my four flat mates (really good mates)to go to Vegas and all get married to eachother. I still say it'd be funny lol.
Everytime I read some fundie trying to justify their bullshit position on this issue, it always seems like they're going down a shopping list of things they themselves would secretly love to do. When they're not parroting some idiot youth group leader they are actually thinking up this crap on their own.
"People will wind up doing things like marrying their best friend just for the heck of it and only existing for the shallow pleasuring of themselves... Friendly love and pure lust are too often confused and twisted together into one emotion"
I honestly can't imagine how anyone could come up with this, that wasn't secretly lusting after their friends (who happen to be the same sex as them). Unfortunately it's going to be a long road for chimp, who might never find a suitable outlet for his obvious gay side.
@Tyco
HEAR HEAR!

I know someone that this description fits them to a 't'. He's bisexual. And he's a wonderful, smart, funny man I'm glad to have in my life.
I figure in a year or two he will find a female lover again, or maybe he won't.
He is not hurting anyone. He is living his life.
As long as one is a law-abiding citizen, making their own way in the world, why do other people think they should decide what should make a person happy?
/People will wind up doing things like marrying their best friend just for the heck of it and only existing for the shallow pleasuring of themselves./
Tell that to Britney Spears. She married her childhood friend from school for the fun of it in Vegas. And that was years before California legalized same-sex marriages.
...?
Of course, because being outcast and having one's basic rights taken away because they have romantic/sexual feelings for the "wrong" gender is just so "fun"!
Take the pancakes out of your ass, masterchimp10.
Uhhh...... my best friend is of the opposite sex, we could get married if we wanted to, but we don't see each other that way.
That and my current spouse might get upset.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
