So, when you die, and 10 generations have passed and nothing from your life is remembered then how are you supposed to have meaning in that? The truth is ,that It is my egotism that forces my belief in god and a eternal existence, I must exist after death, I am more important that just this life...The Idea of only having this life and nothing more is not appealing to me in the slightest. This life is NOT enough for me, it may be for some but not me.

At least he's honest. Personally, I can't think of anything more horrible than eternal life. There's no nice way to say this, but the bulk of humanity is not so special or interesting that they should continue to exist for infinity. We are ultimately very boring creatures with lives that are of consequence only to a small circle of family and friends. Ironically, the really great thinkers, the ones who do deserve immortality, are the very ones that most Christians believe are destined to fry in hell.
It may not be enough for you, but it's all you get. get used to it. Why live for an afterlife that may not exist when you can live the life you have.
"Zoom!"
"What was that?"
"That was your life, mate!"
"Well, that was quick. Do I get another one?"
"No, only one per customer!"
Then do something that will get you into the history books. If you can't, then maybe you're not more important than just this life. Then again, once you're dead, there won't be a you to care whether anyone remembers you.
This is the only reason there is still such a thing as religion.
People who believe in an after-life just can't handle the fact that once you die, THAT'S IT. So they make up mythical places that your soul (a thing that does *not* exist) goes after your body dies.
This comes from the egocentricy that many humans have, that we are somehow important to the Universe. When in fact every human could drop dead at once and everything else would go on exisiting without batting an eyelash.
So what makes you think that in the afterlife you will be important?
If you want fulfillment in this (your one shot at) life then; be nice to folk, and help where you can, don't hurt anyone, and don't do anything to another that you wouldn't like done to you. Oh! and don't ask anyone to do something you wouldn't be willing to do yourself!
Let me get this straight, the only way your life can have any meaning is if a big invisible sky daddy threatens you and/or promises another life afterwards? Tell me, once you get to heaven, won't your existence loose all its meaning since you won't have another life after that one?
"I am more important than just this life" Nicely put there, Loxly dear. How old are you, 17? Most people are rather fed up with life when they're over 85 or 90. And what's so great about an eternal existence? What are you supposed to do eternally?
I won't be around 10 generations after my death, so I don't need any meaning then. I need meaning NOW, in this life.
Confused?
