(Complaining about California's new wording on marriage licenses: Instead of "Bride" and "Groom", it's now "Party A" and "Party B".)
Terrible! So, let me get this straight (no pun intended)...
Because the state wants to sanction gay marriages, traditional (man and woman) requests for licensure won't be afforded their due recognition? They will have to endure a generic, gender neutral abomination of a certificate so as not to offend!
This is a great practical example of how light and darkness CANNOT coexist, they are mutually exclusive!
(Seriously, is it really THAT big of a honking, hairy deal???)

Light and darkness, by virtue, CAN and HAVE to exist at the same time. If you don't have one, you can't have the other, can you?
You've got a stupid argument anyway.
Offend whom? The ones contracting to marry, the state which recognizes the contract, the witnesses to the contract, the attendees?
It can't be you since you are not a participant nor have any legal status recognized in the contract.
So, who is offended?
Why would "man and woman" require recognition when the contractors may either be of opposite genders or the same gender?
I don't think you've thought this through logically.
but wait, didn't god make light and dark coexist in the beginning?
Also I'm rather happy the government is changing...go apply for a grant, they're the most racist fuckers around when it comes to giving you your 'fair share' to help you with financial needs
They should just have made some extra versions and print the one corresponding to the wishes of the persons getting married. It's not as if it's that much of an effort to make 3 or 4 more versions considering that they only need to change 2 words at a time.
An added benefit of making multiple versions is that the people getting married can have their romantic notion and no one is offended. Because when we look at it seriously, would you want your marriage certificate to say "party A and party B instead" of "bride and groom"?. Getting married is supposed to be a happy occasion, not a clinical act.

Fundies view wives as the subservient, inferior property of their husbands. A form that refers to both parties as just "parties", rather than "bride" and "groom", implies equality between them - naturally, fundies won't like that one bit.

You got that right. Our light arrived, and your darkness was driven back.
"...They will have to endure a generic, gender neutral abomination of a certificate so as not to offend! ..."
Oh, the AGONY! Whatever shall they do??
Now, if your pastor wasn't allowed to use the words "bride and groom" in a wedding ceremony, or you couldn't use the words when describing the wedding you just saw, you might have a point.
This is a great practical example of how light and darkness CANNOT coexist, they are mutually exclusive!
Because...the government is making a legal contract sound like a legal contract.
Seriously.
THIS is how we're destroying marriage. By making them use legally appropriate terminology. If that's the case, I politely invite you to get fucked. Thank you.

Because the world is always black and white! There is no such thing as grey! Good people are always good and bad people are always bad! Conformity is freedom and difference is evil! That's the Gospel Truth!
...Yeah, whatever.
@Brain_In_A_Jar, thanks for the insight. I hadn't considered that aspect of it.
Marriage is a legal contract in the eyes of the state, and gender-neutral language seems quite appropriate. You might worry more about how your childish intolerance makes the rest of the country think that fundies are obsessive-compulsive homophobes who would benefit from anti-anxiety medication.
DUDE...that's YOUR fucking fault!
"If they want to have sanctioned sex, they shouldn't call it marriage, they should call it something else!"
Ringing any bells?
Also, I'm sitting in the light, and my shadow is very dark. You fail.
Um, marriage is a legal contract. In religious ceremonies, you can call them whatever they want to be called, but it's not the same thing at all.
And OH NO GENDER-NONSPECIFIC WORDS THE WORLD IS ENDING. Go take a damn Valium or something.
if that piece of paper means SOOOOO much to you. Ive been maried for a decade and I couldnt give a rats ass about a license.
For some reason govt reckognition of their beliefs are VERY important.. it makes you wonder..
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
