[About the recently released video game Spore, which allows players to create and nurture an evolving species.]
I used to like Will Wright. He created Sim City, a fantastic game that celebrated the earth that God created for us and allowed you to use all your God given abilities to make an ideal society. But if you ever felt like you had too much power, God would come in with a tornado or an earthquake and put you back in place.
You would think that as a member of the Episcopal Church, a smart man like Will Wright would not be capable of creating Spore. However, we must be reminded that the Episcopal Church is the only church in america that ordains homosexuals on a regular basis.
It makes sense that a perverted church would cause a man to make the creations he has in this game. It just may be that evolution is not the only thing to fear this game teaching your children.

Oh, for Hank's sake! *sad sigh*
Repeat after me, people: It. Is. Only. A. Game.
EDIT: Bah. Poe's Law strikes yet again.
The site is a poe, fucking stop quoting it!
Maybe we haven't been clear enough in the past. I'll say it slowly and clearly so the fucktards who keep quoting it can understand:
ANITSPORE....IS...A...POE...AND...AN...ELABORATE...RICK-ROLL. STOP...SUBMITTING...QUOTES...FROM...ANTISPORE
Is that clear enough now?
Now, perhaps we can get back to the real fundies. Is that ok with everyone?
Hey guys, don't you know that Anti Spore is completely satire? The creator of the blog tried to hint it at an entry she made, but a lot of people still didn't get it. Here's a quote that was posted at 9.11.2008:
But the Bible teaches us that God was not done with man. For we were His creation and He then spoke to Noah in Genesis 8:21-27 after the flood.
“21. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never gonna give you up. 22. “Never gonna let you down.” 23.”Never gonna run around and desert you.” 24. “Never gonna make you cry.” 25. “Never gonna say goodbye.” 26. “Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.” 27.”Never truly believe anything you read on the Internet. There will always be cases of Poe’s Law.”
Uh . . . in Sim City "God" didn't level the playing field, you did this yourself as the "mayor" of the city; you made the hurricanes, floods, riots, and alien invasions happen. Ideal society my ass. Playing god and wiping out whole cultures when you got bored with them.
I'm beginning to think fundies are just plain nuts. "Celebrating the earth that god created for us..." gimme a break.
Oh, a Poe. Guess I should pay more attention next time I post.
@#722003
LOL, I like making them have gay sex in the hot tub. Then I set them on fire for it. I'm Jesus!
Leaving aside the fact that this site is the best Poe ever, Will Wright is not Episcopalian - he is, apparently, either agnostic or atheist. He did go to an Episcopalian school, which he credits with instilling in him a non-theistic mindset.

Big fucking deal much?
"You would think that as a member of the Episcopal Church, a smart man like Will Wright would not be capable of creating Spore."
Yeah, I'd be surprised if a member of the Episcopal Church were capable of creating ANYTHING, let alone a complex video game. But hey, that's just me. :D (POE of not, it is amusing at times)
"However, we must be reminded that the Episcopal Church is the only church in america that ordains homosexuals on a regular basis. "
You must be reminded that you don't know what you're talking about.
@Agozyen -
Yes, I find people ignoring you when you inform them of something and wasting your time a big fucking deal. You don't find people wasting your time and not paying any attention to anything you tell them annoying? As someone else said above, there are perfectly good quotes that don't get approved and instead FSTDT's main page is wastefully taken up with known poes like this.
Imagine I said the world was flat and you corrected me, with evidence. You keep trying to do other things but I keep interrupting you to tell you the Earth is flat despite you constantly telling and showing me otherwise. Imagine I keep doing this over and over stopping you from doing what you were orginaly trying to do.
I think you'd get pretty pissed off.
Maybe you didn't realise but this site is called "Fundies Say the Darndest Things", not "Well Known Poe's Set Up the Darndest Rick-Rolls". You may enjoy having your time and this site's resources wasted by people who don't listen to what they're told or are too stupid to spot an obvious poe when it kicks them in the balls but for me it gets a little tedious. So shut the fuck up.
Katsuro, lighten the fuck up. Seriously. It wasted 30 seconds of your time, and after that, you were wasting your own.
Known Poe. Check the most recent post.
Fucking epic, though. Managed to get just about everyone going with this one.
Christians should love spore, its about intelligent design, if it was about evolution it would be completely wrong.
Personally I think atheists should be complaining its teaching their children intelligent design more than its teaching christian children evolution.
Agozyen -
It would have wasted only 30 seconds of my time except for the fact that this is but one of a bunch of these quotes.
And wasting my own time is fine, it's my time to waste, it's not for others who don't listen to what you tell them to waste.
Plus it was about quater to midnight when I responed to you, I'm hardly busy at that time of night.
The issue isn't just about wasting my time, it's wasting the resources of this site when actual fundie quotes are being arbitrarily turned down which deserve to be on here. Not to mention people simply not listening. Which you seem to have done by not actually responding to anything I said.
Be careful guys, keep going like this, there will be an atheists say the darnest things website.
I can already see it happening with some of the bickering I've seen.
Once an atheist tried to argue evolution didn't exist because supposedly believing in God means I can't agree with evolution -_- ASTDT.
Poe. Come on people.
At all the atheists bitching about Spore not being evolutionary enough: Fuck you. This game is not designed to teach kids evolution, and if you weren't in control of each species evolution then it would be shit. At the very least Spore is like an introduction course to astrobiology but frankly Wayne Barlow's Expedition does a better job at that.
Spore's a game. It's not an educational tool.
Katsuro is exactly correct.
Recently I've seen a ton of these Poes and quotes from satire sites on here, as well as a lot of neocon political stuff which isn't necessarily religious and therefore doesn't belong here. I don't know what the hell is the problem with whoever approves these quotes. I submitted several quotes recently from real Fundies ("Genesis clearly proves the universe was made in 6 days," etc.) which didn't get approved. But if someone submits an obviously FAKE quote or a political quote from some neocon who doesn't even mention anything religious, it gets approved almost instantly. What the hell is going on?
ou would think that as a member of the Episcopal Church, a smart man like Will Wright would not be capable of creating Spore.
Oh, so we agree that dogmatic ideologies limit/reduce human capability, great.
Ignoring that this is a poe:
It's totally nonsensical to dislike Spore because it's encouraging 'playing God' AND because there's an element of evolution.
The God aspect of it is really in favour of intelligent design, making the presence of evolution irrelevant.
I value Spore as a game. I don't get butthurt about its admittedly inaccurate portrayal of evolution, which was really a gameplay problem. Now you apparently don't think it's ok to express beliefs, which is a real problem for you "no evidence required, but an old book is" people.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
