<In regard to the LHC>
These people have no right to take Mother Earth and plant such a huge (GOD KNOWS WHAT) into our planet and then think it may not do anything to our earth. Who do they think they are messing with everyone’s life? What is the long term effect? they don’t know, they only speculate. They don’t have this right and should be stop ASAP!! I can’t even imagine that our US Gov has condone this insanity, You people don’t have the right as earth does not just belong to you science fools!! Armagendon is coming fast enough, you are expediting what is coming. BACK OFF!!!!!!

Ummm, believe it or not, the LHC is not in America, and as such, it doesn't need the "US Gov" approval. While I have the utmost respect for informed, intelligent Americans, idiots like this that imagine the US is the only nation in the world with technology, make me laugh.

JHR, when you get to middle school you'll learn that Switzerland is not part of the United States and as such couldn't care less what the US thinks about its project.
I think JHR just wants the US to bomb Switzerland for building the LHC.

Fermilabs has been using a similar (if smaller) collider for the last few decades without incident. Your statement reveals nothing more or less than the anti-science, anti-knowledge bias that runs through Christianity like a fudge ribbon runs through rocky road ice cream.
I'm not a fundie but I'm not thrilled with the LHC collider either. I hate to break it to everyone but science does not have all the answers and scientists do make mistakes, and I think that the possibility for catastrophic error does exist here. Why should we allow the lives of billions to be threatened because of the egos of a few?

What's the problem with the Big Bang that fundies have? Its impossible to prove anything before it, science deals with the natural universe.

@ #722340: The same could be said of nuclear power, and I'm sure the same was said when someone suggested using electricity instead of oil lamps. But we're still here. Science is about taking risks, risks that have led to you using a computer and any other modern devices you have in your house/apartment.
there was just a very tiny chance that strange quarks would convert the entire planet. Similarly a quantum black hole would take a while to destroy us , and we will all be dead before that happens so no problem there.

Its the Large Hadron Collider. It takes large Hadrons and smashes them together really fast, then looks at the bits that fly off.
The real problem will be when they start on SMALL Hadrons. That will need a microscope or something.
