Can anyone point me in the direction of some great articles/books/movies/threads with some good arguments to refuting evolution? We are going to have a discussion in my Bio class about the differences betw. Creationism and Evolution, and I've noticed my class is slanted toward Evolution so I wanted some solid evidence to tell them. I know what I believe but it would be great to have some sources to back up what I say . Thanks!

Dammit!! I was going to use that troll at one point too!
Umm.. I mean, I am a perfect little angel who has never done anything dishonest in my life. :D
"Can anyone point me in the direction of some great articles/books/movies/threads with some good arguments to refuting evolution?"
Short answer: no.
Long answer: yes, if you have strange definition of "good arguments" or are willing to venture into alternate universes to find them.
You gunna lose!
Sure. Just tell them that scientists found that human cytochrome-c is closer to a sunflower than a chimpanzee (per creationist Kent Hovind). It's complete nonsense, of course (human and chimp cytochrome-c is identical) but they won't know. Kent's typical audience of Bible-thumping fundie dimwits sure doesn't. Then tell them that certain proteins in humans are closer to those of a bullfrog than a chimp (per creationist Duane Gish). Duane couldn't supply proof when challenged, but the dummies in your biology class won't know that. After all, you're doing God's work, so it's OK to lie. The LORD has given you permission. If they start coughing something that sounds like "bullfrog", just ignore them.
Then tell them that the speed of light changes, and that's why we found stars 169,000 light years away, when the Bible says they were created only 6,000 years ago. Then tell them that after the ark landed, the llamas hiked across the deserts of Libya and Morocco, swam 2,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, slashed their way through the jungles of the Amazon and climbed into the Andes, where God gave them a new form of hemoglobin so they could breath the thin air. Hey, can your classmates prove they didn't? If they disagree, just say "were you there?" - that'll shut 'em up!
That's the problem right there. If you start with an answer you already believe, and cherry-pick evidence to support your side, you aren't practicing real science--you're practicing politics. Scientists gather evidence first, and then draw conclusions, based on the evidence, not in spite of it. That you have this paradigm completely reversed is precisely why you won't do well in a scientific setting.
Incidentally, you won't find any evidence to support your position at all--outside of heavily distorted, non-peer-reviewed papers pushed by the Discovery Institute, perhaps. That's because there isn't any. Evolution is one of the most well established and consistently empirically supported theories in the history of science. But then, if you actually learned anything about evolution, you'd know that.
Just quote Kent Hovind.
If you have luck your Bio-Teacher won´t have the education to refute Hovinds claims. If the other kids have luck, your bio teacher however is well versed in debates against creationists, will smithe your argumentation pro creationism/contra evolution and the whole class will have a laugh at your expense
:D
Bring a banana to class. It's the "Atheist's Nightmare". Fuckken LOL. I have yet to see a SINGLE valid argument against Evolution, let alone one that actually supports Creationism. Also, did those retards finally admit ID and Creationism are one and the same now, or what? They seem to use the terms interchangeably now, as opposed to denying any connection.

They have a lot of good anti-evolution on there.
"I know what I believe but it would be great to have some sources to back up what I say."
Ha! Your failure at science amuses me greatly.
The last good argument existed before movies and threads. You might want to check out the archives at your local library. If you have allergies, ask the librarian to blow off the dust before letting you turn the fragile pages. Unfortunately, the books will be far too delicate to bring to class. Since your class likely has updated texts (depending on the public school) the library ones will not do you any good.
So, as for what to bring to class for the discussion, ask your fellow students to first suspend disbelief before traveling into la la land. Once that is achieved rational thought is no longer necessary so you can bring out the babble.
'betw.' is not a word. Before you start trying to compile solid evidence, learn how to write English.
Oh, and find the evidence before you jump to conclusions. That is how science works.
Your 'Bio' class is slanted toward Evolution because the evidence points that way. All of it.
fergus
May I make a suggestion?
Instead of going into this class looking for a fight, why don't you listen to what your teacher has to say?
Then, if you decide that you disagree with the ToE, you can take it up with your teacher later.
Use the "watchmaker" analogy. Or mention that you think the eye is *waaaay* to complicated to have evolved. Please. That would be hilarious.
Since you're actually trying to make a case here and not just make a fool of yourself, my advice is that you sit back and listen. There is no evidence to back your claim - you will just make a fool of yourself.
why believe the bible?
the bible is infallible!
how do you know it's infallible?
the bible is the word of god!
how can you be sure it's the word of god?
because the bible tells us so!

[Yoda] That, is why you fail. [/Yoda]

Yeah. "Of Pandas and People " is a good start, and your best bet in 'proving those nasty EVILutionists wrong ', Prattia.

...oh wait.
I'm sorry, Katia, there simply are no good arguments to refute evolution. That's like searching for a good argument against photosynthesis or algebra. The differences between Creation and Evolution is like the difference between Alice in Wonderland and the Periodic Table. One is pure fable, children's stories, the other is mundane facts. Your class is slanted toward Evolution, like it's slanted towards Reality. There simply IS no solid evidence for fairy tales like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Creation, Astrology and Scientology.
We know what you believe too, dearie, but there simply IS no source to back up that drivel, sadly.

Actually, before I came to this site in mid 2009, I didn't know that there were people contesting the ToE. Since then, I have learned that there are even people here in Sweden contesting reality. Sad, sad. My faith in humanity is dwindling each week...
The differences between creationism and evolution can be summed up very quickly - the former is bullshit, the latter isn't.
In any case, creationism and evolution are not mutually exclusive. If there is a God, why cannot he have set evolution in motion?
That depends. Are you unconcerned with peer-review, proper research methods, falsifiable ideas and conclusions that do not depend on unmeasurable intervention?
Yes?
Well then there are lots of resources, some of them very long, some of them very easy to read and some of them very entertaining.
Just not "great" in a scientific sense.
You're in a biology class. You "know what you believe", but you don't know any good reasons for your belief or you wouldn't be asking for more. Y'see, science doesn't care about arguments, just evidence, and creationism doesn't actually have any.
If you don't listen to what others say, you'll come out of the class as dumb as you went into it. I think you've missed the point of education.
Confused?
