[The article quotes a passage of Alan Chambers' book "God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door"]
This is why I believe that it is so important to clarify that just living a celibate gay life is just as sinful as living a sexually promiscuous one. The sin is in identifying with anything that is contrary to Christ, which homosexuality clearly is.

So given that Leviticus only prohibits against actual male (the Bible makes absolutely no mention of female homosexuality) homosexual intercourse, and that it never says anything about relationships themselves, your Biblical justification for this is... what, exactly?
"The sin is in identifying with anything that is contrary to Christ, which homosexuality clearly is. "
Is that the same Christ who spent his time almost exclusively in the company of 12 men?
the Bible makes absolutely no mention of female homosexuality
Not quite true, Paul condemns lesbians in his letter to the Romans. Although as he was bat-shit insane (and a misogynist to boot) it's best not to take any notice of his hate-filled ramblings.
Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.
1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
What this person means is that even being gay is sinful. He no doubt believes that it can be 'cured' by prayer. Well his lot have prayed over many gay men and women over heaven knows how many years and it's never worked. Besides, it's not a sickness. God made Gays!!! Lay your prolem at his door, Alan. As for me, I get on with my life and live as decently as I can. And that means not belittling anyone else because of any unreasonable prejudice.
I suggest that you get on your knees and pray for forgiveness for all those Christians who hate gays. Hatred is a big big sin. More than enough to land you in the Lake of Fire. Think about it, and control your prejudice.
You're totally undoing the work of all those semi-tolerant Christians who claim that it's fine to be gay, so long as there's no sex involved.
It would make no sense for God to create gay people just so they'll be stuck sinning. Likewise, it would make no sense to be gay and celibate if there was a choice of whether or not to be gay in the first place.
Besides that, I doubt you could even bring up anything in the bible to support your viewpoint. The "Homosexual Next Door" thing is just hilarious, too. I seem to remember something about "love thy neighbour" that you must have missed in your mad page-turning through Leviticus.
Hating others, which Christ explicited taught against, is dandy. Homosexuality, only reported a few times and never directly from Christ, is not. It's important to have these rules.
If you're gay and just don't have sex, or if you're gay and simply too busy or unhealthy or ugly to have sex, or if you find that you're actually bi and take up with a person of the opposite gender all on your own, well, you're not all that miraculous, are you? You undercut the drama of Alan's gay-to-straight story. You're not paying his organization money or going to its meetings or conferences. (Alan is the president of Exodus, the big ex-gay group.) You probably wouldn't even help his organization lobby or get in the news! And therein lies the "sin".
*headdesk*
HOW IS IT CONTRARY TO CHRIST IF JESUS NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE FIRST PLACE!
*Cough, cough* Sorry, everyone, got a little angry there...back to your normal thread viewing. :)
Yeah, anyone who has read any of my other posts on this site should believe me when I say this man is a total penis.
Get back out of the closet and deal with yourself, jerk.
@1Burning Stake
Well, he did say that the law (ie, OT) should be kept to the letter until the Apocalypse..and since the law does condemn homosexual acts, he technically did say something about the subject.
Let's review shall we? Someone is homosexual. He can...
Be celibate and not act on it. Sin
Embrace his sexuality and persue a monogamous relationship. Sin
Fake heterosexuality, find a girl, get married and live a lie. Sin
Become a priest, try to be religious, and either lie about his sexuality or deal with christian hatred. Sin
Live a life of promiscuity and possibly die of AIDS or an STD. Sin
Commit suicide. Sin
Geez there's a bullet in every chamber isn't there?
Is it also a sin to be black? To have red hair? To have green eyes? How about a receding chin or an epicanthal fold; are they sinful too? Flat feet? Arthritis? A stutter?
How about the SIN (not too strong a word) of being homophobic? Oops, I forgot, THAT one is something that can be changed.
Confused?
