(Thread title: intellectual People can't except simple truth)
I was just listening to an interview given by Matt Damon where he is denigrating Sarah Palin For being pro life and for the fact that she wants the teaching of Creationism in public schools.
Another thing he said with a condescending tone was.
(And this women thinks that dinosaurs were on the earth 4000 years ago.
and she is going to have the Nuclear codes??).
this was being said with the condescending tone that she must be crazy to believe these thing's.

//perfectly reasonable in my eyes, someone like that is obviously acting on their emotions (subjective) rather than through logic (objective)

//Obviously someone who acts on emotions and without evidence, and denies other ideas, is not the type of person who should be making important decisions, their judgment could be coloured very easily if they were.

//Well, maybe it's because he believes that she is much too illogical to be in such a position.
Quote "this was being said with the condescending tone that she must be crazy to believe these thing's."
That was very uncalled for by Mr. Damon. After all Ms. Palin doesn't have to be crazy to believe these things - she could just be shit stupid.
Hmmm On second thought you're probably right Mr. Damon.
mbtcforJesus: "These people think they're smart but God's wisdom always confounds the 'so-called' wise of this world. These 'so-called' intelligent people have eyes but cannot see and have ears but cannot hear. They have become like the idols they worship."
Fucknut here can't even get his scare quotes right. Hey dumbass - it would be "so-called 'wise'" and "so-called 'intelligent'".
Sheesh - stick with the program.
"Are we seeing a RR-wide boycott of films staring him in the future :) "
yes all 25 of them, it should effectively crush his career
Have you people any idea how Europeans look on is stunned amazement at your mad dash to medievalism? It seems incredible to us that so many in the US are stampeding away from reason, logic, freedom of thought, rationality and plain commonsense, replacing these foundation blocks of all that is western culture with irrationality and a suppression of freedom that reminds us of North Korea or Iran.
This pistol-packin'-mama Palin is ludicrous. She's like a cross between Wonderwoman, Rambo and a female Jesus. And Fundies are all but ready to worship her because she's pulling all their strings and pushing the right buttons with them.
In a nutshell, Mindlessness for the Mindless.
Religion will be the ruin of America. Your country is taking its eye off the political ball to play at gods and devils. Well the devils will win out in the end if those factors I mention at the start of this rant are nor rapidly reinstated. You can be sure that Putin is not keeping his nose in a prayerbook, or in a hymnal. He's re-building Russia faster than America will be able to recover from her present crisis. So you can kiss American supremacy goodbye as it vanishes up Putin's ass.
Sorry, but that's how it is and will be, when America become the world's biggest pussycat.
I'd say this had to be a Poe based on this line further in the same post:
"I know some things are to complicated for me to understand like particle physics or American idol.
But their are some things that are just to plain and simple for the Haughty minded intellectuals of our day to get. "
But then again, this is RR
Congratulations! You and Matt Damon pointed out Sarah Palin's inability to accept the simple truth!
Oh wait, you actually believe what Palin says. Darn, and for a minute there I thought some actual intelligent content had come out of RR.
And Xotan, there are some of us here in the US who support the development of common sense. This site is simply to showcase those few babbling morons who fight it kicking and screaming.
She's not crazy, just full of stupid.
People, please! This isn't an either/or situation. She's fully capable of being both!
I as an Englishman have great faith in the American system of education and the intelligence of its citizens. However, I believe there is a significant minority who are batshit crazy, and I don't know how this is going to be turned round.
Just don't let Palin be elected to any kind of office, please!! Especially VP, for she will be the end of us all and if she's a rapturist, she'll probably be delighted. Between Palin and Putin (only two letters) we'll be doomed.
fergus
From the same post:

....
...
Poe, right? nobody is that stupid...
'(And this women thinks that dinosaurs were on the earth 4000 years ago.

Because she IS fucking crazy to believe such utter whaleshit when scientific evidence has proved creationism/intelligent design to be nothing more than a figment of the imagination of fundy Christians.
@ WhyDontYou.Org.UK
Mega Thx for your kind comment. Not living in America, and getting my news through another language than English, it is easy enough to pick up a mistaken emphasis, or just be totally wrong. I am happy to hear that there are those those who are on the side of reason.
It still beats me, though, how Bush got in - twice!
You can't even spell "accept", how am I supposed to accept your opinion.
Also, Palin's an idiot and when she was chosen to be McCain's VP I said : "I see what they're doing."
She's an obvious publicity stunt.
What a fucking delusional cesspool of asinine retardism.
Now my damn ears are bleeding. Makes you ashamed to homo sapiens.
I would suggest they climb back up in the trees, but combined I don't believe they could muster the IQ required to get the job done.
They are actually congratulating one another about how damned ignorant they all are. Then trying point out that knowing a subject is somehow contrary to understanding their ridiculous fables.

Condescending?
Like "Christianity is the one true religion" or "We'll be praying for your salvation?"
Grow the fuck up, you of all people should know the cockiness that comes with being absolutely sure you're right! And if people handle this all nicey-nicey, we're gonna go back to the stone age. People need to learn to say, "No! We're done with you! If you want to know why we won't teach creationism, go look up the information that we've given you a hundred thousand times! Otherwise, keep to yourself, and stop infecting other peoples' children with your crazy!"
From later on in the thread:
"The wisdom of God is revealed to the simple. In God'seyes, man's foolishness is God's wisdom
God also laughs at the wisdom of man. To Him, this so called wisdom is plain foolishness."
God is such a great guy. He just sits on a cloud all day laughing at how foolish his own creation is. Feel the love you guys, or else.
@Morrigan:
Matt Damon is actually pretty damned smart and has abilities way beyond those displayed to the great unwashed on the silver screen.
(...and yes, this I know through personal contact, not from some celeb goss rag **hawk, spit**.)
@Xotan: You nailed it, sir. The Founding Fathers would be ashamed at the disgrace that is happening here. And "Mindlessness for the Mindless?" Maybe that should be the GOP's new slogan.
But please don't insult Wonder Woman by bringing her name up with Palin's! Wonder Woman would kick Palin's rear from Washington D.C. to Alaska and back.
@redfergus: Thank you for your faith in us. I know that we may not always live up to our standards and values, but as L said, there are some of us who try to make this country better and try to uphold the values that it was founded on. I'm relieved to hear a European speak favorably of us because I usually hear foreigners complain about how stupid, arrogant, and naive we are, which, while not entirely unwarranted, does manage to sting a little sometimes. Believe me, we sane Americans are about as fed up with these fundie morons as the rest of the world is. And we don't want Palin in office, either! At least, I don't.
@Pagnostic: Quoted for truth.
@Slayer: I know, right? And this poster accuses Matt Damon of being condescending?
"I was just listening to an interview given by Matt Damon where he is denigrating Sarah Palin For being pro life and for the fact that she wants the teaching of Creationism in public schools."
1- Note to self: watch more Matt Damon films. I've certainly given up on Tom Cruise* Control, so there's someone more deserving of my time & money (his acting in the Bourne trilogy proves this - outstanding stuff!).
2- Sarah Failin didn't need Matt to denigrate her. She did a perfectly good job of destroying her own campaign prospects via three factors: 1: Everything she said. 2: Everything she did. 3: Everything she THOUGHT.
3- Creationism (certainly via '[Un]Intelligent Design') will never be taught in US schools. Three Words: Kitzmiller versus Dover.
4- ?????
5- PROFIT!
*- Tom, why can't you be like George Clooney - an Atheist? And you wonder why your recent films went down the toilet? Drop the $cientology bollocks, and start being RATIONAL. Mr. Clooney is, and his star is on the ascendant. And not for nothing was he voted Sexiest Man Alive. Twice.
Confused?
