Atheists, how do you respond to this Christian argument?

"It doesn't matter if you claim there is no empirical evidence for God because empirical evidence cannot be used to prove most things. Empirical evidence cannot even prove you were born. Who's to say your birth certificate is a fake and you weren't spontaneously brought into existence? You can't prove that didn't happen. You have FAITH it didn't. Empirical evidence should not be used when it comes to deciding whether or not there is a God because the standards are too high."

How do you respond to this person?

Answer : You can't respond to it. They got you... One of the greatest failures of Atheism is the argument that the book of Genesis was false and proven false by evolution. Evolution itself is based on empirical evidence. So to discount the Christian's argument would be to discount your own.

If empirical evidence was untrustworthy, we would still be living in fucking caves because we would have no way of recording our observations and gradually coming to an understanding of things that seemed too complicated at first.

So then, how do you respond to THIS argument:
How can you Christians know that your faith is in the RIGHT deity? How do you know that the Muslims haven't gotten it right, or no one has? If evidence cannot be trusted, you have just as much a chance of being right as they do, which is frightfully small.

Ultimately the intellectually honest (lol irony incoming) must rely on SOME EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE (even if it's bullshit archaeology/biology/cosmology) to support their FAITH in the Bible, which of course is a big indicator to how strong that 'faith' really is.

Video tapes, hospital records, my birth certificate, and consistent eyewitness accounts aren't empirical? Well, I guess if by empirical you mean "able to be repeated via experiment" rather than simply having observable evidence for it, then yes: one-time events cannot be proven empirically, only the principles behind them can.

Inductive reasoning (?) Everyone else was born, observably to you and everyone else. And you have not seen anyone else brought spontaneously into being, and know that it violates natural law for it occur, so you can naturally assume that it didn't occur that way.

Even if it were falsified, I'm still here. That alone is evidence enough that I was born. I know that I wasn't "spontaneously brought into existence" through empirical observation of other human beings, none of whom came about in such a way.

No. I have, as I explained, personal first hand observation that humans don't spontaneously appear.

I do really hate this "Our beliefs=facts and logical deduction with equal weight"

Especially since the Right-wing world has fully extended this to "our opinion= all evidence on global warming/ Gay marriages/ tax-disparity/ religion in goverment and destructive industrial practices" This illogical assertion that the agenda driven opinion of a few has equal weight has caused immense damage to the laws, enviroment and economy in less then twenty years.

When did America decide unwarranted unsubstantiated and often ridiculous beliefs deserve the same respect as proven facts? Was it FoxNews and the general lack of real journalism?

They had a news segment from America on this week on the mainstream networks asking if the Amish Mafia show could be real,,,honestly,,,the segment was so monumentally unprofessional they didn't just come out, as they should have and say "of course it's not real, give your head a shake people, what the hell".

Americas free speech has actually become threatened by the ridiculous idea that you can't challenge others opinions without infringing on them or denying their rights to say shit.
