We have a conscience (con means with, science means knowledge), which is an intrinsic knowledge of right and wrong, justice and injustice. The Bible says the conscience is Gods law written on our hearts (Rom.1-2). It is the source of that guilt you feel in your bosom. Mans conscience distinguishes him from the animal kingdom, and the law on that conscience will be the standard by which all are judged on Judgment Day!

My choc lab has a conscience. She always feels bad after she chews up something she is not supposed too. But then she looks at me with those big eyes and all is forgiven.
Sounds like your God needs a lesson in forgiveness.
"The Bible says the conscience is Gods law written on our hearts"
"the law on that conscience will be the standard by which all are judged on Judgment Day!"
So depending on much morality God gave us at birth, we're pre-determined to either Heaven or Hell?
That doesn't seem fair.
Hm, my conscience tells me that it is wrong to kill and that it is especially wrong to kill women and ch.ildren
God however says (to state only 2 examples among many):
@Numbers 25:3-4
And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, 'Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.'
@I Samuel 15:2-3
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Either this is a contradiction, or god orders his believers deliberately to act against their conscience (and therefore against gods own laws)
conscience
c.1225, from O.Fr. conscience, from L. conscientia "knowledge within oneself, a moral sense," prp. of conscire "be mutually aware," from com- "with" + scire "to know." Probably a loan-translation of Gk. syneidesis. Sometimes nativized in O.E./M.E. as inwit. Rus. also uses a loan-translation, so-vest, "conscience," lit. "with-knowledge." Conscientious objector first recorded 1916.
Nothing to suggest god writing
Well, I read it, and weighed the pro's and con's, and,,,,, wait,,, pro = for,,, con = against,,,, did this guy just shoot himself in the foot?
@ Nowonmai
Con as an abbreviation of contra means 'against'
Normally 'con' means 'with' only in the neo-Latin languages. (Perversely French uses avec, wherever they got that one from!) In Latin it is 'cum' that = 'with'.
In Latin (whence conscience)'con' is an intensifier particle.
Some examples
castigo = I punish
concastigo = I punish severely.
Puto = I think
Computo = I reckon (the M of com is euphonious. Con-puto automatically grades to computo in speech.)
Cedo = I yield/give up
Concedo = I withdraw/submit
A little learning leads to burning at the stake. Now where's the ketchup?
I guess that would be why laws vary so much from country to country.
But it's not really fundie. It sounds like he was already running on the assumption that what the bible says is true, but even in relation to homosexuality (topic of the video this was posted on), it implies that if you don't feel guilty, then there's nothing wrong.
I would disagree- but this quote isn't really bigoted at all.
"The Bible says the conscience is Gods law written on our hearts (Rom.1-2). It is the source of that guilt you feel in your bosom. Mans conscience distinguishes him from the animal kingdom, and the law on that conscience will be the standard by which all are judged on Judgment Day!"
I don't feel guilty. Does that mean I'm without sin?
Beat me to it, Eden.
Christians have a habit of quoting 1 verse, yet ignore the other 17 that contradict.
Of course the Goat-Sodomisers Manual - sorry, Bible - doesn't HAVE any contradictions, does it. <whistle>
Fine. My own conscience tells me that, as a general rule, so long as I'm not hurting anybody, I'm not doing wrong.
Not saying that I'm perfect, but I do try to avoid doing harm. I think that's a better standard to be judged by than whether you spent your life kissing the arse of some invisible deity.
Maybe this isn't all that fundie?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
